UFC on FUEL TV 6: Tiequan Zhang vs Jon Tuck

Round 1 - Referee Marc Goddard oversees these two lightweights. Crowd firmly behind Zhang, but Tuck comes out swinging. He leaps in with a few crisp strikes, but Zhang slips the moves and scores a takedown. Tuck rolls immediately to an armbar. It's deep, and he rolls it to a face-down variety. Spins and rolls as Tuck tires to break his opponent's grip. Zhang locks in an inverted triangle in defense. It makes Tuck release the hold and focus in keeping himself safe. He does, and he slip immediately to the back in another slick transition. Incredible sequence of grappling. Tuck wants the choke but can't sink it in. Instead, he transitions to the top. Mount goes to side control and back again to mount. Zhang turns in and is defending the choke. Left arm goes under the chin with 90 seconds left. Zhang turns in enough to survive and Tuck breaks the grip. Tuck firmly on the back as Zhang tries to survive. Zhang gets up in final seconds, and Tuck just misses a high kick. Round 2 - Zhang walking forward to open, and he and Tuck trade punches in the pocket. Tuck smiles at the flurry, but Zhang pops him hard. Tuck stays upright, but he eats several powerful shots before leaping in with a knee. Zhang avoids it and hits a takedown. Tuck again goes for the arm and then transitions to a leg when Zhang defends. Tuck bleeding from his forehead, but he smoothly transitions to the top where he sets up and looks to attack. Zhang tries to buck his way back to his feet, but Tuck stays heavy and pushes him back down. Tuck goes to work on the right arm of his opponent and while he misses the submission, it does allow him to transition to mount. Tuck works again to isolate the arm, and he looks like he wants to attack from there, but Zhang scrambles underneath. Tuck slips to the back and again looks for the choke. Top grappling from Tuck who looked a bit shaken on the feet but has re-established control. Round ends with a Zhang sweep attempt, but MMAjunkie.com sees it again for Tuck, 10-9.

Round 3 - Zhang stalks again to open. He's loading up on power shots as Tuck keeps his distance. Tuck works in a quick jab. Zhang's face is battered, but he's looking to attack. Tuck is moving back and to his left, but he's also not attacking. Zhang continues to pursue ad push the action from the outside. Tuck finally comes alive and lands a few crisp punches before smiling. He looks comfortable, but he needs that killer instinct right now. Final two minutes. Zhang lands again, and the crowd responds. Zhang is making the crowd happy with his brawling effort, and the crowd is chanting his name. Final minute, and Zhang's corner wants him to explode. Tuck finds his jab again, but he's gotten too complacent. Tuck hap to stay alive in the late action. He misses a spinning strike, and Zhang takes his back. Tuck rolls for a leg as time expires. MMAjunkie.com gives the final round to Zhang, 10-9, but awards Tuck the fight 29-28. Jon Tuck def. Tiequan Zhang via unanimous decision (29-28, 30-27, 29-28)
