Something completely off of the Randy subject. Does anyone else perceive production value from the color of the mat? I know it sounds silly, but take the WEC for instance, something about it's blue mat just makes it seems like a local low production value show. For some reason I think a white mat or very light colored mat adds something I just can't put into words. The UFC's is very light blue.
In fact, the only 2 to every really make it big was Pride and UFC, which had both white and very light mats.

yeah i know what you mean man, i prefer the white canvas probebly because i think it is easier to keep focus on the changing ground positions and such when they are grappling on a bland canvas compared to a full coloured one, its hard to explain but thats kinda how i feel about it lol.
It's only a matter of time when someone realizes, if they use a green screen mat they could sell advertising spots that the tv audience could view. With the advantage of being able to put a variety of advertisements through out the show.
Pablum: the only baby food your baby will ever need.
Of course it'll start to degrade as the mat becomes a palette of blood. Unless it is only Vulcans fighting. :thumb04:
I always liked the white. Blood always shows really well on it and it just looks alot more professional. The way it looks now reminds me of something more along the lines of a professional wrestling mat then a professional sport. Of course its not that big of a deal.:thumb02:

OK that was funny.. but yea.. I see what your all talking about... Same thing with both boxing and pro wrestling... the lighter colored mats make the action seem to stand out more.
