RICH FRANKLIN IS A CHUMP, A PUNK, A LAME SCRUB

Are you kidding? A man who has dedicated his life to his profession, who trains like a madman, a man who has stepped into the arena, faced his opponent, faced the truth of himself. I hear he is being talked down on the forums of the MMA websites. That makes me angry. He was on top of the world and worshipped, now he is the subject of laughter. I wish we could all be bigger than that. I wouldn't say I'm friends with him, or particularly like him, but he has my full respect, and will continue to have my respect, win or lose. He is a great fighter. I have respect for any man that has the courage to step into the ring, the octagon, and put his pride, and body on the line.

It's easy for so many on the sidelines, sitting in the seats, sitting on their couches at home to talk, to say how a thing should be done, but who is it, alone in the ring? Who is it that faces it all by himself? It is the warrior. Rich Franklin is a warrior. We should show some respect.

Yeah, I suppose he's right .. i kind of wrote Rich off yesterday too ... I feel he could put in a better performance but I still don't think he's going to beat Silva .. Franklin's a good fighter who fought really, really dumb on Saturday night ... I don't know why he didn't have a better way of getting out of that clinch, he had to have known it was coming

he didnt fight dumb. he has never fought a real muay thai striker before. and he got caught with 3 hard knees to the liver. he just was outclassed. he should go train with bas rutton for awhile. he needs to revamp his stand up if he ever wants to be champ again. what a bad fight to bring his in-laws too though.

The only reason that this might end Rich as a fighter is that for the first time his Wife and her parents (or his not entirely sure which ones) were at the fight for the first time.

As a married man i will tell you with up most certainty that if she cares for him she most certainly will convince him to give it up. With her parents backing her up. There will be some family pressure to deal with. It will only compound the problem with him suffering the injuries he did in his win over David L. If he has broken ribs (id wouldnt be surprised at all, they are bruised at least and that makes it awful hard to move either).

His ability or heart will be questioned like never before. The single worse thing the UFC could do for him is throw him back into a rematch instantly. That would for sure end his career.

It looks like Quick Swick will fight Sliva next as indicated on the UFC website. They said he was there in attendence to see the beating that frank took and said he "stopped short" of calling out Sliva. It appears that Sliva is in the heads of everyone already which is not a good sign. Some body better teach that boy how to speak english he's gunna be around for awhile.

He's right, but thats how ALL SPORTS are.
Baseball, Football, Soccer, Basketball, EVERYTHING.

A lot of the fans will sit and talk crap about a missed shot or something not playing defense. Did everyone just think that when MMA got big and starting getting more and more fans that it would be different?

100,000 fatass couch dwellers are going to call someone a sissy everytime they catch a loss even though they couldn't go 30 seconds.
*shrug*
nothing anyone can do

I agree they shouldnt throw swick at Sliva just yet. He is not ready developement wise. He will be i have no doubt that one day this guy could hold the belt but not right now its much too soon.

Yeah, and he is doing really well.
I wouldn't mind seeing him in 2 or 3 more fights before he gets a shot.

this is what i've been saying the whole time, i've tried to enforce this idea.

Guys like Evan Tanner and Sean Sherk (pretty much my 2 favorite fighters) have the full meaning of what MMA really stands for. You fully respect your opponents no matter who they are, they have the courage to step in the ring and face a phyiscal challenge that not many can face.

Glad Tanner said it, now he just needs to get back in the ring and win that belt (it'd be very hard but i think his wrestling would give him a good chance against Silva).

Tanner has wrestling ability. He could take Silva down. I'm not saying he would if they faced, but he's got a shot. Evan is off in la la land nowadays, so that fight is pretty unlikely.
True, I've always liked Tanner, but I think too many people are really underestimating Silva's BJJ. Now I'll probably be disregarded because I've only seen him on his back on one fight in Pride (i think), but he was great. The whole first round was on the mat, I can't remember who he fought (he was a big japanese guy) but he showed really good submission attempts from his back and good defense.
If silva got taken down I'm sure he would still have a great chance, not many people seem to think so though, it's kind of irritating, or maybe i'm just out of line.

Would you like to be more specific on how the hell you would know the fight is fixed?....or are u just a fool
I dont know the fight was fixed or not (i bet not) but what I do know is that he was sick with the flu dierria and vometing a few days befor the fight ( I knew something was wrong when he had a prefight interveiw).

P.S eventanner actualy had his ass kicked by rich before right?

Big Ups to Tanner for that Blog. That's what's it's all about. I hit you, you hit me....may the better fighter win. Even the lower level guys man. The dedication it takes just to learn to throw a jab is almost unreal. Fighters who train know what I'm talking about. Franklin's a champion who got caught with something he did not expect which was a strong clinch from Silva. He'll be back. Tanner hit it on the head. Good Blog.

Tanner got dominated (both times) but he still showed a lot of heart, and lasted quite a long time in the second fight. I belive it went to the 4th round and it was actually referee stoppage cuz franklin cut him, if my memory is correct.

Matt, I'll just ignore u, I don't even know if your talking to me but I never said anything about swick. He would have no chance against silva.

If franklin was sick than he should get his nose fixed and get his ass back in the gym and show everyone he only lost because he was sick, if that is what ur saying.
