I respect his skills but I dont like him.. I dont like how the japanese refs always favor his lil rubber band ass and cater to his lil needs... Refs in japan always favor japanese fighters but the way they baby Aoki is crazy to say the least..

What I do like alot about Aoki is the facial impressions the man has when he loses and hes being punched in his face.. Its epic.. Hes has got to be one of the ugliest mofo in all of mma . Hes right up there with the dean of mean..

I jus wanted to get that off my chest.

How did the ref favor Aoki? Hansen kicked Aoki in the nuts then kicked Aoki in the face as he was grabbing his groin. The ref restarted the fight in the same position.

I didnt get a good look at the groin kick, but the way he hesitated before he fell after the head kick made it seem like he was over selling the shit outta the whole situation. I cant stand Aoki either. I think he is one of the most overrated fighters on the planet. I would like to see him fight some of the top lightweights from the UFC. I wouldnt give him a snowballs chance in hell of beating BJ, Florian, Maynard, Edgar, Griffin, Huerta, Sanchez, or Guida. I feel like a lot of the lightweights in Japan are overrated because they fight lesser competition. Just my two cents.

I Tivo'd it, and it didn't really look like a bad groin shot. It looked like he got a small nut shot and then in "selling" it, he fell into an upkick. I dunno, I'll have to watch it again, I suppose. And it didn't look like any of his handlers were tending to his balls during his timeout.

And him repeatedly turning away from Hansen's punches mid-punch, to turn them into "punches to the back of the head" was pretty weak as Mezger and Schiavello pointed out.

Not impressed.

Penn would annhilate him. (and I'm no Penn fan)

what would you do? See the punches coming and just sit there and take it in the face? Seriously, turning your head so your opponent can't hit you is pretty smart to me. Isn't that the point of fighting... to avoid damage while inflicting as much as you can? Unless you think being hit in the face like a man is somehow the right way to fight.

Am I the only one that got a good laugh at him looking at Hansen to confirm that he had been kicked in the head before he "fell over in pain"? I dont know how much that kick to the groin or the kick to the head hurt, he probably deserved his five minutes, but he didnt need to over sell it like that.

I agree that he's getting a special treatment in Japan. It's not the first time that something "controversial" has happened in an Aoki fight. Actually, I don't really remember the last time he didn't look at the ref as if he wanted to say "He hurt me! Punish him!". When Hansen's foot was on the ropes the guys around the ring were furiously trying to make his foot go away. When Aoki was using the ropes to improve his position, they didn't do shit. It's just that way and has been for ages. I remember it was the same in PRIDE.

Aokis fight with Eddie Alvarez was embarrassing to watch. Never thought in my life that I'd see an athlete booty scoot to victory.

magic pants = padded victories IMO.

err you usage of the word "japs" makes me nervous, definitely not proper nomenclature.

And I love that little Japanese bastard :) , although his striking needs some improvement.

Much less offensive, thank you. :happy02:
Aoki just has a face I like to see get punched. The tights and cheating refs just add to that sensation.

nah, your ignorance aside: "jap" is most certainly a racial slur. When my wife's granny says "******" i tell her it's not an appropriate word, despite her assertion that she's not a racist. She's 90 years old, what's your excuse? (that was, of course, rhetorical because there really isn't one other than ignorance... which i guess you've already claimed and that's cool)

Dispite your new hardcore/scary sig: you've clearly learned something here, so cheers to changing it.

and, thanks for the neg Partner, i'll wear it with pride considering the op/source/issue :thumb02:

Since you feel your all knowing I guess you think it was justified to neg me first without waiting for a response to find out for sure if I intended for it to be a racial slur.
So you are welcome for the returned favor it was my pleasure. Also thanks for the positive rep..
My original post may have came off to some as a bit border line since I was bitching about the scene there but I can assure who ever it was not intended to be a racial comment. It was intended to be nothing else more then me saying a Brit or Aussie .

No more racial stuff in here or we have to delete the thread. Just discuss why or why you don't hate Aoki. Not his nationality or especially anyone else's on this forum. Keep it on topic please.

Aoki is sick on the ground. He is the first fighter that allowed me to see art/beauty/grace in ground fighting, and I won't ever forget it. :thumb02:

nah man, not all knowing... just like... 'most' knowing. No worries, i accept your appology. :thumb02:

lets be BFFs. slumber party?

Hey hey, before you start up DW, on topic: i don't think Aoki would have a chance in hell of climbing up the UFC LW rankings. I enjoy watching him but there's no denying he's a sales man when it comes to the refs.

Hey room for 3? :thumb02:

And aoki is teh bees knees, he would murder some folks in the ufc.. Not going to say how he'd do agains't BJ but he'd be amazing :)

I dont think Aoki could be to much of a contender in the ufc.. IM sure he could pull off a few wins but there is no way he could dominate.. His lack of stand up and lack of favoring refs there would def hinder his style. Im not denying he has some kills I do enjoy watching him most of the time only because of his sick surprising submissions.

Would his tights be aloud in the ufc?

Did anyone notice his comment at the dream event about the ufc? Honestly I couldnt really tell if he was taking a hatred shot at the ufc for dream or if it was more a cocky callout .
