So we've seen a lot of opinions on last nights fight.

What a great fight(imo)!

Shogun definitely won some fans and Lyoto broke the curse of the undefendable LHW belt (just barely).

Now they've had a chance to get into one anothers heads, who wins the rematch and why?

I'm going to have to say Lyoto. I personally think he wasn't fighting his fight last night. I think his head was swollen from all of the hype, and he underestimated his opponent. He got lucky that he won, and I don't think he'll make the same mistake twice.

You?

Lyoto underestimated Shogun and trained for a completely different fighter. Lyoto wont make that mistake again and will brin his A-game next time. I dont even like Lyoto but all in all I still see him as the best fighter at LHW right now. But everyone loses fights at some point.

As far as im concerned Shogun vs Machida 1, is the equivalent too Fedor vs Arona. In due time people will forget once Machida starts putting the smackdown on once again. Everyone loses once in a while even if there W/L record doesnt show it.

It reminds me of the Mike Tyson vs, Buster Douglas 1990 Heavyweight title fight (even though Douglas won it) in the sense that Machida and Tyson weren't used to getting touched and then once they start getting hit conisitantly they don't know how to react or adjust to it.I know Tyson had alot of other issues mentally and outside of the ring but still.

Good comparison actually it is alot like that. Tyson had trouble when Holyfield wasn't afraid of him either. I just dont think machida expected it though. i dont think it was a mental thing i think it was more him just being prepared for a completely different fight and when Machida sets his mind to a game plan it's hard for him to switch off because of his Karate mentallity.

The thing is Lyoto clearly was superior on the feet and everytime he would start a big exchange or flurry he got the better of it and made Shogun pay. The problem was he just doesn't like to deviate from his gameplan even when it could be the key to winning.

I dunno can't decide. I think Machida would come out differently than the first fight and Shogun won't have the advantage of surprise. I would edge out Machida in a rematch slightly, only because I don't think he will allow himself to get caught time and time again with leg kicks. After his legs gave out he didn't have his elusiveness and explosiveness that makes him a dangerous fighter. I think he would guard against the legs kicks and try punching from different angles rather than trying the same straight left that he's been successful with throughout his career, but were blocked cleanly most of the time by Shogun.

That being said I wouldn't be surprised if Shogun changed it up a bit and came at him differently if his orginal plan didn't work again.

Too hard for me to call right now.

I rather they scrap Couture/Vera. Penn/Diego is going to be a war! Lets hope someone loses by TKO KO or Sub rofl.

it maybe crazy but i think for people to clearly see that machida can take it to shogun is for machida to take him down to the ground out wrestle shogun... ;)
