Time to make Concessions?

Anyone think that the UFC needs to find a way to make more concessions and make co-promotions. I mean, Fedor's camp is very agreeable to Fedor fighting in the UFC except that they want Fedor to deal directly with M-1 while M-1 will only agree if they have some co-promotion.

I am not suggesting that the UFC and M-1 equally share the profits and everything. However, what the UFC offered Fedor and M-1 last time was ridiculous: Fedor will be allowed to compete in ***** as well as wear the M-1 logo on his shorts. I am sure he'd wear M-1 on his shorts regardless. I am sure out there, there are some things the UFC can make concessions on if they are to come to an agreement.

For example, instead of titling the ppv, UFC/M-1 1XX (which is over-the-top), they could add the M-1 logo to the mat akin to a sponsor (obviously not in the centre) on ppv's when Fedor fights. Another thing they could do is allow M-1 to control the production and collect most of the profit within Russia when Fedor fights. Third, they could loan M-1 some fighters who may need more experience or are on a losing streak but not necessarily on the chopping block (ex. they allowed Houston Alexander to fight elsewhere). Fourth, they could just buy M-1 for Fedor and a few other fighters, if needed.

Any other suggestion for negotiating Fedor to finally fight in the UFC?

I'd agree except that its been done in boxing to hold some huge-ass fights. As MMA grows, it might be best for the UFC to find ways to attract more diverse talent. The UFC cannot expect to be called the best fighting promotion in the world when fighters who could possibly wipe out divisions are elsewhere all because the UFC doesn't want to acknowledge any other promotions.

There is NO reason for the UFC to make any concessions to M-1 at ALL.

First of all, Fedor and Mousasi just don’t draw any fans. They were co-headliners on a NETWORK aired fight and they could not even draw what a single fight on spike TV between a semi-talented fighter and a guy who cant fight at all. What do they bring to the table?

Second, Nevada State Gamming Commission has an opinion on M-1 and said there could be possible issues with the Fratitas gamming license if they do business with the owners of M-1.

Third, Fedor is crazy expensive. He offers very little return on investment. Sure, hardcore fans (of which I am one) will buy a PPV to see him fight, but we were going to do so anyway!

Forth, promoting a competitor is just crazy for any business to do that is the largest market share. Co-Promotions are normally only done when companies are trying to break into a market and pick up a bit of market share, or if the market is new and they are trying to get the product maximum exposure. The UFC has the lions share of the market, there is no reason to give any part of that to a competitor.

Lastly, while I would love to see Fedor fight in the UFC, I just don’t think he ever will. There are too many things fighting against it. Fedor is the best HW in the world, but sadly he will never get to prove it on the biggest stage!

ehh....I dont think Fedor is really worth all that. Would the NBA co-promote with the CBA to get one player? Would the NFL co-promote with Arena League to get one player? Fedor is good but from what I saw on Saturday he isnt too far from a loss and could very well lose his first fight in the UFC. The ramifications for a win arent that big. The long-term losses the UFC would suffer making all those concessions would be big.

After Fedor every Tom, Dick, and Harry will want to co-promote. Nah, dont do it.

i got a good suggestion, Fedor loses the entourage of Gangsters, beggers and hangers on and makes the move himself to give the fans what they want and to truely cement his legacy for the masses. Even tho he is cemented with the hardcore, MMA is growing at a rate never seen before, he is in danger of becoming Oscar Robinson, the best player ever but only a handful of true hardcore fans know it, while the rest go with players from the more popular eras (jordan, magic etc etc).

Why would the UFC need to make any kind of concessions? No other organization, hold that, no two other organizations even have half of there talent. They are making money, and as far as the casual fan is concerened, they are mma. The UFC is fine, they will continue to grow and be successful with or without Fedor. They have plenty of talent, if you dont believe me then you should have watched two UFC rejects fight on the main card for Strikeforce this past weekend.
