Ya, that card is better than most ppv cards in last year now. I hope GG wont get caught early and he manages to take JDS down, because I wanna see how good JDS' is on his back against tier 1 grappler like Gabe.
Basically an early KO would prove nothing to me at this point, I wanna see his ground game so we can tell if there is any chance he can last a round with Mir, cain or Carwin when the fight hits the ground and specially if he has the wrestling to get up from there even if he can avoid the subs.
In JDS' first UFC fight, they gave him a top 10 HW one fight away from a title shot. Then they gave him someone on a 5 fight submission streak. Then they gave him a legend. Then they gave him someone with 30+ KOs who just knocked out Rizzo and had just taken the #2 HW to the 3rd round.
I dunno what they're doing with JDS but after he beats GG he'll have one of the most impressive 5 fight streak in the whole HW division.
That being said, JDS takes this fight easily. GG will try to stand for the first exchange then feel the dynamite power he has, try to take him down, get shucked off, retreat, and get crushed. GREAT looking fightnight!
Man this card is getting better and better, really looking forward to it. Liking every single fight talked about so far. The UFC really are putting on a heck of a show for their debut on Versus aren't they!
This card is freaking awesome!!!! I cant wait for the Jon Jones vs. Brandon Vera fight. If Jones beats Vera convincingly i say give him a title shot!!!!!:thumb02:
Also i hope no one on this card get injured because it sounds to good to be true.
If the rumoured bouts are true and do get added, then the card will look like this:
Brandon Vera vs Jon Jones
Junior Dos Santos vs Gabriel Gonzaga
Anthony Johnson vs John Howard
Clay Guida vs Sean Sherk
Spencer Fisher vs Duane Ludwig
Brendan Schaub vs Chase Gormley
Vladamir Matyushenko vs Eliot Marshall
That is a sick card for a FN event. Really can't wait for Vera vs Jones, that's going to be such a good fight. Potential Fight of the Year candidate I reckon.
As others have already stated, definitely a PPV worthy card. Nice to see UFC going all out in a potential move to compete with SF, which typically puts on a few fairly loaded and free cards each year in its own right. And they act like competition is a bad thing.
I wish the UFC would debut a card like this on CBS or something instead of versus. It wont get a lot of attention on versus and people with Directv cant even watch it.
I agree, I mean spike even has a bigger audience than Versus...ridiculous card though.....I have been saying JDS is the best prospect out of that Cain, Carwin , JDS group....I mean if he beats gabe how can someone rate Carwin in front of him......thats Carwins only big win, JDS already has the most impressive resume out of all of them
Another fight, another win for Dos Santos. Gabriel Gonzaga Nogueira (that's what wiki says) never been one of my favorites due to poor record: forget about Mirko for a second and Gonzaga hasn't beaten anyone legit, and in the meantime lost to Werdum twice, to Couture and to Carwin decisively. So I think Junior has a good chance to improve his highlight reel by delivering another knockout.
theres your answer from Dana, Khov, saying he is next in line indeed :sarcastic12: shame on you for believing that for half a second.
yea obv he wasnt next in line or even close but i agree they are giving him a tough, long route to the title.
GG is gonna turn his career in the right direction, he took down Carwin who has a great wrestling base, he is gonna take down JDS, im pretty sure of it and im pretty sure JDS wont wanna be on the bottom.
If the odds are right ill put real $ aswell. GG is just madly underrated lately. He had a couple poor showings but the talent is there. GG outstruck CC more impressively then JDS did.... to say he would lose to Yvel who has no ground game to rely on is kinda funny to me, he would eat Yvel on the ground instantly.
Dos Santos should win this easily which saddens me because I really want to see him challenged by one of the top fighters in the division.
It is probably for the best though as it will allow all 3 of the major up and comers to fight for the title instead of pitting them against each other right away.
I always figured Fight Night's were for up'n comers and with some former contenders or future contenders as a main event, but for a Fight Night this is an insane card over all.
JDS for the win.
