This fight will actually be a tough fight for Cro-Cop. Gabriel has a very thick bone structure which is why he weighs as much as he does. He's fit and strong with a thick neck which gives him favor in the "not so easy to be knocked out department". He doesn't have a glass jaw and his only lose was to Fabricio Werdum who is no scrub.

The other factor is style Garbriel has a really solid BJJ ground game and is a solid shooter and has good takedown technique. His stand up is decent and has a good transition from a G&P style to his submissions.

I'm going to love watching this fight. I love watching Gabriel fight and the same for Cro-Cop. I give favor to Cro-Cop but he has a lot of work a head of him. This will not be a Cro-Cop highlight reel and if he thinks he can try to make it one he's going to end up with another number in his lose column.

Mirko never plans on making it a highlight reel, I really think he couldn't care less about it. And saying that "this will not be a highlight reel" knockout is difficult to justify since I think pretty much no though Crocop vs. Wandy would be a highlight knockout...but we all saw what happened with that.

With that said Gonzaga is a decent fighter, defintely a step up from eddie sanchez but I still see a knockout late in the 1st or 2nd round.

You say that but his fight with Eddie Sanchez was exactly that. He was head hunting him the whole time. Often during the fight Cro-Cop threw head kicks that were not very well timed and often weak and misplace. Much of it was do to him *trying* to get the head kick knockout rather than take his time and set it up with combos and distance games.

I love people's replies.

"Cro-Cop is the best! He is ubber cool and will pwn Gonzaga!! I have no clue why I think that and instead of posting something note worthy that might explain my choice! I guess I'll just hug is nutz till they turn purple and I emasculate him with all my lovin'!"

I really wish more people respond to threads like this with more thoughts than the average drunken frat guy. :dunno:

It sounds like ur sticking up for Gonzaga cuz he is out of Massachusetts. Im a Boston boy too, but I can face the facts. Gonzaga has faught 1 decent fighter in his career and he lost. Not to mention the guy that beat Gonzaga is Crocop's BJJ coach, so Im sure he can give him some good pointers. Gonzaga will not be able to take down Crocop. It took Nog nearly 15 minutes to do it and Gonzaga isnt on Nog's level. I dont think Gonzaga is as good as Barnett on the ground nor as good as him on the feet and Crocop beat him like a drum. Another easy fight for Mirko. I dont see why they couldnt let him fight AA. Noone would think any less of AA if he lost to Crocop. But instead we get another mismatch. Crocop will win this fight easier than he did against Eddie because Gonzaga wont run away.

i couldnt have said it better myself... and the fact that werdum is cro cops BJJ coach prolly has gonzaga raising some questions right now

I think we are making a big deal out of this fight...Gonzaga doesn't stand a chance other than the "punchers chance" I see this as a good chance to double my points.

I hear you on that one! double up the point totals again. And come on, quit trying to make this thread last, everyone knows Cro Cop is going to take this guy out, ko him or tko him. Cro Cop has an amazing takedown defense so it wont be an easy match to get to the ground.

Bad match up for Gonzaga. Cro Cop's sprawl will give him problems and when he comes in to close he will eat strikes. Gonzaga is good though, and I think he would pose problems for someone like Tim Sylvia, but Cro Cop via body shot leading to a TKO.

this is the most accurate prediction i've seen. i dont think we'll see a head kick in this one because gonzaga could possibly capitalize on a miss and take mirko down. tko, probably early 2nd round.

Cro Cop for Heavyweight Belt

Dana White has stated that Cro Cop will fight the winner of Sylvia/Couture (assuming he beats Gonzaga). That will be an awesome fight whoever is involved.

Glad to see the UFC is stepping up to the plate with the best quality fighters available.

Gabriel Gonzaga is no stepping stone...

This could really be CC's downfall, but it is up to him. I think it was obvious that CC didn't come in the best shape of his life for Eddie Sanchez and he shouldn't do that again vs GOnzaga. If he makes a habit of it, sooner or later he's gonna lose. I pray CC comes in tip top shape and then demolishes Gonzaga.

Yeah, it sucked that the fight ended so soon. Sapp was throwing much harder shots, he just couldn't connect. But, Sapp in the center of the ring, stalking Cro Cop as he ran in circles was funny.
The little jab, that was mentioned, was actually a straight left that broke Sapps cheekbone. It was set up by a kick to the ribs that bruised 2 of them.

Cro-cop "ran" in circles to get position on Sapp, setting up the kick and punch that ended it. Sapp looses 1/2 his stamina climbing into the ring, Mirko and his corner knew it.

As for his next fight, it'll be interesting to see his sprawl defence in the UFC. In pride guys were wary of a knee to the head coming in, no so in the UFC. Still his takedown D is remarkable. He'll probably use low and side kicks to weaken the legs and TKO in the 2nd with the uppercut.
