I perspnally think DREAM is PRIDE in 1997. It has to take baby steps before it can step up to the bigger leagues. Your thoughts?

on MMA connected they said DREAM is having massive finicial problems.

so yea, they could be like Pride, very, very soon.

I hope your right but let's get realistic. Pride started in 1997 right as MMA in NA was in crisis. The shows were illegal they weren't making money and they couldn't pay the fighters like what Japan could. The best in the world headed tp Japan and it was a no brainer where to go.

2010 has changed. UFC pays the most they have the best in the world and MMA is thriving all over the world. Japanese MMA is a shadow of it's former self and the UFC has a liscence to print money.

I like Dream but things don't look good. The only thing I can see keeping them afloat is the fact that the Japanese are very loyal.

Sorry...NO!
In order to even get close to PRIDE, Dream would need to sign some big names, champions, recognised fighters...and at this moment that is almost impossible. At it's pick, PRIDE was a big rival for the UFC. Dream will never reach that level.
The UFC is just too big, it has become just enormous.
It broke a lot of barriers, has taken MMA to other continents/countries and it will continue: Europe, Australia, Asia (Abu Dhabi)...and soon they will do it in South America (Brazil imo).
The key to becoming great is going global with MMA. And the UFC is slowly doing that.

Note: i loved PRIDE shows and i also think Dream shows are impecable and amazing

I would really like to see Dream, Sengoku and Strikeforce to become one big Organization hold in Japan. Stick with the Dream brand and build this Company up as a serious competition to the UFC, just like Pride!

They could hold events mostly in Japan, but also in the States or even Europe, Russia..

No, they need some bigger names, and WAY more exposure.

They made some good moves allying themselves with EliteXC (before they went bankrupt) and Strikforce. And they have (IMO) the best rules of all the MMA brands but as of now they are not close to becoming the new PRIDE.

But it would be great if they could.
