World Cup- 2nd Round(6/27): England vs. Germany

This is why I love this game with such passion. What amazing drama, and this is only the beginning!

Funny anecdote for those of you who didn't know, the Lampard shot is a throwback to the 1966 World Cup finals between these two teams. The game stood 2-2 and we went into extra time. The english striker Geoff Hurst fired of a shot that hit the bar and bounced off the line and out. The assistant ref flagged for a goal, and England, inspired by this went on to win 4-2.

The goal was always highly controversial, and everyone apart from englishmen always argued the ball did not cross the line. A study by the Engineering Department at Oxford University concluded that the ball did not cross the line entirely and that it was 6 cms away from being a goal. England was basicly given this super important goal on wrong terms.

And now this happens, just the other way around. Holy shit, this is historic right here.

Yay! Man, watching our team play makes me happy. I wanna say "karma is a bitch" but that would be too easy and disrespectful towards the English guys. You played well, but we came out on top this time. Win or lose it's always a pleasure to see this match against our favorite rival.

From this day forth we shall tell the tale of how we got screwed in 1966 and how we went even 44 years after. That's gonna make for some good stories.

The better team won, plain and simple. I'm always cheering for Three Lions but this team is useless. Big names, but no interaction and flow between the players. With 2-2 before half time it would have been a somewhat different game, but Germany just have more quality as a team. The next match for them will be a real test however, against the lethal Argentina.

WRONG.

The lines man was align with the last man where he was supposed to be and the ref cant see that.

There was nothing that could have been done, and then Lampard hitting the crossbar crushed there moral.

Germany was the better team and the younger team. Ozil and Mueller were great.

Yes but they were still robbed, it would have equalized and that always reinvigorates a team, you cant say they would have won as Germany was clearly the better team. I dont think that the "robbery" would have mattered if they had awarded the goal, I think Gremany still would have pressed and won....

I really hope England does some revamping for 2014 and on top of that they need an elite striker on the right forward position....WITH MORE FREAKING SPEED......

@ Hixxy, I feel ya brother and believe me I am hurting just as bad you are also correct in your statement....

They were robbed of one goal. That is it. They played like trash the entire game, I'm sorry, they did. Minus two spurs. Their defence was abysmal, and at half time 3 ex England players said they're lucky not to be 5 or 6 goals down.

Should the game of been 4-2? Yes. That's it though.

pity about the goal that was not counted, but I don't think it would have changed who the victor was. Granted, I agree it would have both motivated england and changed the way they played had it been 2-2 going into the half. But anything other than that is pure speculation, and to be honest, despite England playing decently (i dont think they were playing quite that bad kryonicle) I think the score would have still been 4-2 in the final.
