I am just wondering where everyone gets their gear to wear for jiu Jitsu on and off the mat?

Personally I don't want to be seen wearing Affliction , Tapout gear ect.. off the mat this seems to be
the look of the new arm chair quarterbacks (those who think they know the sport but don't actually train) I would rather get my stuff from someone who is a bit more underground who supports and sponsors BJJ Athletes who are just getting started in the sport, or those who have been at it for a while even but possibly do not make it their career, but enjoy training and competing and do not want to get lost in the sea of people who do not train and wear (the newest fad brand name stuff to look cool gear).

I discovered BJJ Legion not long ago http://www.thebjjlifestyle.com/ they gave me a discount on the gear I bought from them for joining "The Legion" on their website which also gives opportunities to earn sponsorship even if your a white belt which I found pretty cool.:thumb02:

Anyhow all that leads me back to the question I started the post with.

Where do you get your gear from, and one additional question who gives you sponsorship if any to compete locally?

I usually just get on google and shop around for my gear.
So I sign up for that websight to get a discount whats the catch?
No Catch you sign up and get a discount and can earn points that you build up for store credit.

Keep me posted if you stumble on anyone else that does something like this let me know. Let me know if you find anyone else who sponsors people for signing up and promoting their gear like they do. Which I think is totally Awesome by the way.

My instructor orders my stuff for me through some vendor he has a account with, and never thought much about being sponsored to compete so I can't comment on that.
This is an interesting topic. I'll need to look into sponsorships for bjj tournament competitors a bit more to see how that process compares to finding sponsors for MMA. I recently wrote an article for MMApipeline.com that discusses how to go about getting sponsored for guys just starting out in MMA. Most of that info should work for bjj competitors as well. The article can be found here:

best of luck!
