I gotta say, i feel sky is the limit for this guy. His kickboxing is crisp and his BJJ is great, he transitions well and isnt afraid to mix it up a bit either. I think this kid has a bright, bright future and i could see him giving some of the top dogs at SF a run in the very near future.

Thoughts??

I'm a huge Shane Delrosario fan but he'd get smashed by Antonio Silva. I can't see anywhere he wins that one.

Antonio is a brutal HW.

it all depends if Del Rosario could stop BFs TDs. If he can he would massarce him on the feet. On the ground Del Rosario is no slouch but i dont think he would fare well under BF.

I think Del Rosario has the makings of a champion.

he is 248 pounds. He is taller and heavier than both Velasquez and Dos Santos. I dont know many 6f4 248 pound guys cutting to 205. Saying "actual skills" makes me think you dont know much about Del Rosario. There is a reason Lesnar wanted to bring him in for his camp, the kid has actual grappling and striking skills.

He trains BJJ under 2x Pan American Champion Giva "The Arm Collector" Santana, i believe he is a brown belt, he is as legit as it comes and will only get better.

His striking is already levels about guys like BF and he will only get better. He is a freak athlete and if you watch his fight with Brandon Cash he got clocked right on the chin by a monster shot and still recovered to get a Omaplata. The kid has a future.

Big foot got smashed by Kyle (LHW) and lost a 10:8 round in the first.

Big foots striking is slow and sloppy. His main strength is his BJJ and pure strength and size.

If Del could avoid the take downs of BF or scramble back up to his feet (which is a task) then I think he could take Big Foot right now.

No need to wait, lets throw him in there with the big boys. The man has skills.

What does that really mean? Mike Kyle has brutal power.. Just because Bigfoot is a HW he is supposed to have a harder head?

Mike Kyle knocks out almost everybody he hits square on the chin. Thats why 12 of his 18 wins are by strikes. Hell he's even TKOed LHW champ Rafael Feijao.

He dropped Bigfoot. He didn't beat Bigfoot. Shane is unproven and Bigfoot just smashed Fedor Emeliananko.

I'd give the advantage to Bigfoot any day of the week at this point.

Silva is a good fighter and Rothwel is turning from mediocre to CAN!
As we speak!

I bet every day...you don't have to explain how it is with odds and stuff!

I was making a hint at the fact that you can't go by odds only.
In that case, every time you make a bet, go for the ones with bigger odds.

It's too early to compare Del Rosario to Silva.

Silva has been in some great fights against establisehd fighters, former UFC and Pride champions: Fedor, Werdum Arlovski, Ricco. Lost only to Werdum, a big part of that being the experience factor. But overall, Silva looked more than decent.
Fact that he got dropped and beat on by Kyle and then came back and put him away just shows what a tough fighter he is.
And he keeps improving.

Del Rosario is talented, but looking at his fighting record, who has he beaten so far?! Only B and C level fighters.
He has some way to go.

PS: he looked pretty tired after beating Johnson, at the post fight interview...something he needs to work on also.

You edited your post while i wrote mine...seriously man!

guess time will tell, im usually pretty good at sniffing out talent and my radar is going off like crazy when i watch Del Rosario.

Same arguement ppl made against Cain, that he hadnt fought anybody yet. Well you dont fight top guys til you fight top guys, all we can go on now is who he has fought and he has looked spectatular in all his fights and proved he has a chin in one of them. Much like Cain before he fought the top dogs.

Feel free to bump this if im wrong in the future. No hard feelings, i respect your opinion and respectfully disagree.

Did i say something bad about Del Rosario?! I'm missing something...

I consider him a very talented HW. one of the best HW prespects in the HW division - SF and UFC included.

But i still think he is fresh and he needs to fight a bigger name.
Wich i think will happen.
I wish it won't be Griggs though. It wouldn't help him at all.
I want to see Del Rosario vs Arlovski next. Or Del Rosario vs loser of Barnett-Rogers. No matter who loses that fight, it will be a test for Del Rosario: if he gets Rogers, he will be able to test his stand-up.
If he gets Barnett he will be able to test his ground game, but i think Barnett would be too much for him on the ground honestly.

So...i wish he would get Arlovski or Rogers. (I think Barnett will sub him - at lest i hope so)

Agreed. But looking back on Cain's run, it's so much easier to talk about him.
Even though many people said he will be champion.
It's not like he got the title because his name is Velasquez. He fought for that belt. And pretty much destroyed everyone he faced.
And he didn't face top contenders straight away. He made his way up the rankings by fighting and beating the fighters who were ranked higher than him.

Del Rosario should follow the same path.

I don't bump threads or stuff like that...
If i'm wrong and you're right...that's that.

Over my time here on MMAF - breaking down fights, debating styles and strategies, talking about how one fighter should/will fight against another one - i have learned one thing: talk is good, it's great even - but, on fight night, it desn't mean much.
Because, we're not the ones fighting. The fighter are. And in the heat of the fight a lot of things can happen.
One mistake and all plans/strategies go out the window.

Your opinion - respected!
