If Diego Sanchez busts out a “Yes” cartwheel during the UFC on Versus 3 show, it’s going to look like he’s coming straight into your living room with it.

The UFC announced along with Versus on Monday that the broadcast of the show slated for this Thursday from Louisville’s KFC Yum! Arena will be shown in 3D, the first ever of its kind for the promotion.

The 3D cameras will be in addition to the normal HD shots that fans normally expect, and will be available to those with 3D capable TV’s.

“We’re really excited to start broadcasting UFC events in 3D,” UFC President Dana White said. “UFC is ahead of the curve when it comes to introducing new technology and we think UFC fans will really enjoy seeing fights in 3D.”

The other change to the upcoming UFC on Versus 3 show will be the broadcast team which for this card will feature former WEC play-by-play man Todd Harris alongside UFC featherweight Kenny Florian who will take up color commentary duties.

The broadcast kicks off on Versus this Thursday night at 9pm ET/6pm PT.

sweeet...joe rogan mentioned on his podcast a looong time ago that they were already filming some UFC events in 3D...testing it out, and that there would be UFC 3D soon but i never heard anything about it from the UFC

so i just thought man joe is really high these days lol...but i guess it was true...UFC in 3D....awesome!:thumb02:

PS: ...though this will only be truly awesome when 3D TVs dont need those stupid glasses anymore...seriously...its 2011...we already have the technology to make a tv without the need for glasses

I couldn't care less for HD either to be honest. Visual effects never really bothered me. I usually don't like movies that rely on special effects and/or 3D and don't have anything else to offer (recently Avatar and Tron). I'm more of a music guy, so simulated 3D sound in headphones is much more attractive to me than 3D vision which I already have due to having two eyes.

The only problem with 3D is that I would have to buy a TV, and I usually don't do that, being fine with modern internet.

So I'm not buying a TV, let alone a pricey 3D one, but I'm considering upgrading the PC display whenever possible/somewhat affordable.

Smartphones are practical if you can afford and if you actually have some use (professional)
HD vids are awesome, we all agree on that
3D might be awesome as well, but right now it's too expensive
