Pretty simple, which card do you think is going to be better, both are pretty stacked.

I went 129 can't go wrong with two title fights and Randy Couture and I don't think Frankie and Gray will put on the same show. Because the first aside form Frankie getting dropped early wasn't all that exciting, granted more exciting then I thought it would be.

Here's the cards btw.

UFC 129

* Light Heavyweight bout: United States Randy Couture vs. Brazil Lyoto Machida[1]
* Lightweight bout: Canada Mark Bocek vs. United States Ben Henderson[1]

* Welterweight bout: Canada Claude Patrick vs. United States Daniel Roberts[1]
* Bantamweight bout: Canada Ivan Menjivar vs. United States Charlie Valencia[1]
* Middleweight bout: Canada Jason MacDonald vs. United States Ryan Jensen[1]

UFC 130

130. I like good fights over names. And 130 has both.

GSP cruises.
I will root hard for Couture, but I could see him losing easily.
Aldo by a mile

129 is good, but more for names than good fights. GSP cards rarely get me too excited.

P.S.- how on earth did you not find that fight exciting after the 1st round? Frankie slamming the bigger wrestler? Fast paced? Close decision? Does someone need to get dropped each round for it to be exciting? I thought it was one of the better fights recently. And no doubt one of the better title fights of recent memory. Come to think of it I can't remember a better title fight other than maybe Silva-Sonnen...just for the way it ended.

No, but I put Maynard Edage in the same boat as Shogun Machida I. It was a great fight while it was happening and was really exciting, but after the fact on a second watch it just isn't the same. It's still a good fight, but not as exciting at all. A couple big events, Frankie getting rocked, the slam in the second, same as The couple flurries in Machida Shogun. It wasn't a bad fight, but after the second it was a lot of circle and jab and circle with a couple shots.

129 for me, how often do you get to see two of the top 3 p4p fighters on earth ON THE SAME CARD??? 129 has a lot of lopsided matches but i enjoy watching dominant fights and thats exactly what i expect to see from GSP, Aldo, and Machida. Plus im excited to see Bendo's UFC debut and how he fares after losing to Showtime.

I'm a sucker for the big names. Give me 129.

Jose Aldo making his UFC debut, Randy Couture trying to get one last title shot, Lyoto on the rebound, not to mention what could be GSP's swansong at 170. All of that in front of (by far) the biggest crowd in UFC history.:thumb02:

Ya i agree, i am a sucker for both GSP, Lyoto and Couture. If Thiago Silva was still facing Jackson at 130, I may have changed my mind.

Meh, 128 is better than both imo.

Also, why the hell is Thiago Alves a prelim fight?????

have to go with 130 on personal preference, I like the HW fights to much and I like the Stann fight, other than that I like both the main events although I would give the edge to GSP/Shields, but its close and the rest of the card call it out for me.

Although Aldo and Machida been on the cards makes it very close and I can see why most would call that a better card but still for me personally the HW fights sway it.

For the record I like both these cards more than 128.

As a big fan what can i say: GSP and Aldo on the same card!
Plus, the fight i am looking at almost as much as the title fights: MacDonald - Diaz. The Water Boy's return to action - i am so excited for that fight!
Plus Couture vs Machida and Henderson-Bocek!

129 all the way baby!

PS: still can't believe Thiago Alves is on the prelims! How stupid does that sound?! Honestly.

I gotta go with 129.

I love them both, obviously, but when you show me two title fights in one night, I absolutely love it.

I have to say though, the WEC merger has done wonders for the competition of the UFC cards. The fact that Miguel Torres is in a preliminary is a bit of an injustice IMO, but still an INCREDIBLE statement to the diversity of talent the UFC has brought in.

UFC 129, it really gives me more intrigue, and seems like its going to be one amped up night.
- I really think GSP vs Shields could actually be a close grappling match, and will have plenty of fans nervous that night. (Ones who dont want GSP to lose and then fight Silva)
- Aldo vs Hominick is going to be a battle, this could be a nice striking match. And its Aldo's UFC Debut.
- Couture vs Machida. If Machida is back to his old form, it could be one sided, plus it could be Couture's last fight, might as well see a legend walk off into the sunset with your own eyes.
- Henderson vs Bocek could be real nice, though I think this is going to be one sided, Bocek is losing.
- Nate Diaz vs Rory MacDonald. I really anticipate this one, might not be the biggest names but knowing both fighters, this could be a real scrap, early FOTN candidate. I expect this one to go everywhere, a real battle.

130 by far, except for the main event.

On 129, besides the main event, all the other fights are either one sided, big names with losing streaks, or complete minnows.

130 is packed with fighters all of which are on hot streaks and very relevant to their divisions, with close fights to call. I mean Mir/Nelson, Stann/Santiago, Struve/Browne, Jackson/Hamill are all contender deciders.

Whereas 129 has Matyushenko Brilz which is fairly low on the relevancy scale to the title picture and probably a boring fight to boot. Watching Aldo tool guys is fun but Hominick is like zero threat to him. And Bocek/Bendo might have had some meaning in the WEC, but in the UFC's packed LW division these guys are years away from the title picture.

Not that I'm complaining, both are good solid cards with their share of entertaining figthers and I do love GSP clinics, I just think 130 is way better overall.
I think you guys are under estimating the skills of Bocek, I personalty think he will win this fight fairly easily, I consider his defiantly a top 10 push up loser if not in the top 5 of the UFC LW division in respect to the guys skills.

If you guys consider Jim Miller as a dark horse contender in that division as many do, then you can't ignore Bocek, I have been a long term fan of Miller and still am, but seriously you should watch the Miller vs Bocek fight again sometime because I don't think the unanimous decision gives real justice to how close that fight really was, I personally remember been quite worried for Miller on a few occasions in that fight and thought there was a good chance he would lose the decision. Ok hard to say Miller was not good for his win because they both performed well had it was close, but I don't think there would of been a creditable cry of injustice if the judges has given the fight to Bocek ether.

I think Bendo gets sub'ed in this fight, I would be surprised with any other outcome.

Both pretty equal, I want a Story (upset win) and Mir KO-ing Nelson at 130. I think Frankie takes Maynard emphatically this time around. Jorge Santiago I predict get's KOed. Hamill for the upset.

If I had to pick, it'd be 129 because of Aldo

In rank of fight interest
1. Aldo wrecks/finishes Hominick

2. Machida/Couture(curious to see if Machida unloads some flurries) (KOTN for Machida?)

3. Mcdonald/Diaz - that screams stand-up war (FOTN or KOTN for McDonald)

4. GSP V Shields - I forsee a stiff jab-a-thon with neither fighter being to mount on a takedown, maybe an attempt to finish (if we're lucky).

Beyond that:
GSP get barraged with questions about stepping up to the plate.

Very close but 129 edged it for me. Two title fights is just brilliant. The rest of the main card is solid. I'm not interested in Page vs Hamill at all so that kind of puts me off 130, even though the rest is spectacular. I mean, Alves and Torres on prelims?? Daaaaamn.

#25 ·
Went with the 130 card as I am not sure I want to see the exhibition fight with Machida VS Couture. Both cards offer some good fights though I like Hamil really do want to see him get smashed. Can not wait to see Mr Maynard finally shut up. What a relief that will be. Well that is to much rambling on...

I love watching Aldo fight, so even if he finishes in the first it will be worth it because it's always impressive. I think GSP Shields will be closer than people think unless GSP decides to just jab him into oblivion like he did Kos, like he probably will. And I see Machida Couture being a good fight.

#29 ·
I like it better when Aldo fights top competition. Hominick is merely a filler.

And I'm never excited for a GSP fight anymore so I guess that's just me. I also don't see the fight being close and, once again, going to a 5 round decision of GSP playing conservative.

I REALLY am looking forward to Machida/Couture though.

There is no more top competition at 145, sure Florian dropped down but I don't see Aldo facing anyone who can hang with him at 145, so I just look forward to being blown away by the things he does in the cage.

See I feel the same about 130, I see Maynard Frankie being what everyone expected it to be this time around and Frankie dancing on the outside and eating gray up but going 5 rounds, I don't see Frankie finishing anyone. I don't think Rampage Hamill will even be close, Rampage by a mile. Frank Mir, Roy Nelson not a fan of either guy, Frank is a good teacher but his fights either end in the first a win for him or he quits most of the time and Roy gets on my nerves, had since TUF. I love Brain Stann, repsect the guy alot and like him as a person but not enough for it to tip the card for 130.

And not to mention 129 has Lil Hendo. Guess it's just a matter of taste.....obviously haha.

Even.

Although GSP, Aldo, and Machida losing would be amazing. I don't have a personal interest in 130 but it is an amazing card and is worth buying as every fight on the card looks good.

Alves on the prelims sucks ass though, I understand exciting fights on prelims translates to more PPV buys, but the number three welterweight in the world should not be fighting on the prelims. That's just awful.

Can' be unbiased in this one. UFC 129 is coming to my hometown AND it has name appeal, 2 titles and Randy Couture. I believe the atmosphere is going to make each fight seem like the FOTN.

130 is a rugged card though, it'll probably have some great fights throughout, but if I've learned anything about watching UFCs is that can't really predict whats going to be an exciting fight, or where an upset might pop up.

I think alot of the fights at 129 will closer than people think.

As for Bocek vs Bendo, I don't know how Bocek wins it, his only weapon is the submission and if Henderson even lets it get to the ground he's notorious for evading and enduring submission attempts.

Also 129, Diaz vs Macdonald!!!

No doubt when you're there every fight feels amazing. I was at 123, which was a good card but even Machida Rampage seemed like a war haha. Nothing like being there.
