Michael Bisping, through all the trash talk, spitting, and other antics that have made him the MMA villain he is today, has indirectly turned himself into one of the biggest draws in the UFC’s middleweight division.

After his TKO win over Jorge Rivera, the controversy weighed heavy in media circles. Rivera’s camp went on record and described Bisping’s actions as “deplorable” and “disrespectful.” Assault charges are typically filed in similar situations.

The character that Bisping advertises in the UFC has made him a “bad guy” in the sport, equivalent to what you call a “heel” in professional wrestling. The level of villainy he has reached is that of Legion of Doom-type altitudes, spurring the need for defenders of truth, justice and all that other stuff you hear about in the DC Comic universe.

As of right now, one fighter interested in being defender of justice to Bisping’s protagonist ways is Nate “The Great” Marquardt. The Jackson’s MMA fighter spoke with MMAWeekly Radio and confirmed an interest in getting the opportunity to shut the mouth of the brash British fighter.

“I think Bisping has always been a loudmouth,” Marquardt said. “Henderson taught him a lesson there for a little bit and he was quieted down for about a month, then (he was) a loudmouth again. It would be a pleasure to fight that guy and shut him up for another month.”

Clearly, Marquardt is not a fan of Bisping and his antics, but let us not jump to the conclusion that he sees all of Bisping’s actions as completely out of line. After watching the TUF alumnus’ fight against Rivera, Marquardt feels the “knee from down under” was not as intentional as the rest of the MMA universe thinks it was.

The knee may have come while Bisping was under the impression that a legitimate opening was there.

“I don’t believe he meant to throw it illegally,” he said. “Jorge had his hand on the ground and then he pulled his hand up and he raised up. That’s when he threw the knee and wasn’t thinking (Rivera’s) knees were on the ground and that he’s still a grounded opponent. I don’t think (Rivera) was the same after that, although Michael was already winning the fight. But it was still competitive up until that point.”

As far as giving Bisping the benefit of the doubt, the talk about the illegal knee is just about where it ends. Beyond that one moment in the fight, Marquardt does not give the British fighter any more slack. According to him, the actions Bisping displayed do not represent those of a true martial artist.

“It’s not what a martial artist or a sportsman should be doing,” Marquardt explained. “It’s just not good for the sport. It’s disrespectful, dishonorable.

“That just shows the kind of person Michael Bisping is.”

Bisping is currently without an opponent for his next fight. Marquardt is set to fight Dan Miller this weekend at UFC 128 after original opponent Yoshihiro Akiyama withdrew due to the tragedy in Japan. If Marquardt is able to get past the New Jersey resident, he could put himself in a slot to fight Bisping next.
Well enjoy. That is possibly my least creative thread title that i put thought into. Lol.

Anyway

Id love for Nate to shut Bisping up for a month. Then for someone else to shut it for a month. Until it gets wired shut for 3-4 months. And then hopefully he gets used to not talking.

Doubt it Bisping was pissing himself and crying like a little girl after the stupid things Rivera said. Then you're going to pit him against a guy that's smarter, a better fight and was good enough to get under Silva's skin? Please, Bisping would be crying angry tears a month out from the fight.

Why is there not more blame being placed on Rivera and his band of jackasses. There is no question what Bisping did was was wrong, but it can also be described as reactive.

It seems like "poor" Jorge's defeat and illegal knee shot have magically erased the addmittedly funny pre fight hype video he and his pals made, as well as the 5 minute plus "Bisping is a dick" video... that was not nearly as funny.

Jorge got his as far as I'm concerned, and I'm wondering why no one is calling him out for his actions. Sure he lost the fight... but in my opinion there is no question who the bigger dick in the entire situation was, it was NOT Bisping.

+1. Bisping did go a bit overboard with the spitting and so on, but he was punished for that by losing his bonus. I can't believe how many people go on and on about Bisping without ever mentioning Rivera was the one who started it all, and went way further with the pre-fight trash talk than Bisping did.

If you're going to talk sh1t, you better be ready to eat it after the fight if you lose.

There are three fights I would love to see Bisping involved in and it would be against Sonnen for the trash talk and embarrasement Sonnen would bring to Bisping. Not to mention the pure domination on the ground... Vitor is an obvious choice too. If anyone is going to shut that mouth up, it's him after he KOs Bisping and breaks his jaw... Marquardt is my third choice too due to him having that nice KO power that will shut the lights off if he connects on Bisping's mouth.

lolwut? I dont understand how something he did 1 time, years ago, allready paid and apologised for and has never done again, Has anything at all to do with someone being a disrespectful douchebag over and over and over for years in a row.

Marquardts issue has long been solved and doesnt serve to make light of Bisping's current "antics". Bisping time and time again runs his mouth and disrespects EVERYONE. Even the guys who smear his face into oblivion.

I agree with others however that the only way to end his douchebaggery once and for all is to give him Chael Sonnen. The dude will be reduced to a snivelling school girl before Sonnen grinds his head into the mat for 3 rounds.

WAR SONNEN!

Please note im mostly just trolling around for fun.:)

Its not looking grim , Bisping is making more money than alot of these guys and is closing on a title shot and is being rewarded with fighters ranked higher than himself , thats every fighters dream.................Even if he loses he will being paid alot of money and fighting in the premier MMA organisation.......

Bisping is the least scary fighter on the planet. I'm only a WW but if I had a choice to fight any UFC fighter it'd probably be Bisping. The dude is just not at all intimidating and I feel like I've had sparring sessions harder than his fights.

I don't really hate him enough to pay to watch him get beat up though. If he headlined a PPV I wouldn't buy it (and haven't). He's more like that CharlieZ guy, too dumb to care about when he talks shit.

Nate is such an over rated waste of space in, the fact he is considered so high in the division is laughable, I hope he gets to fight Bisping cos I and confident Bisping would beat him easily, in fact I am not sure he could even beat Rivera.

Wow hang on a sec where did he get a 2nd degree black belt from in jujitsu (at least according to wiki) not sure if I believe this is true, must of found it lying around while he was sweeping the floors in his gym or something left there by one of the coaches or something I don't, can we have a Palhares rematch please to see if he is worthy of it.

What a joke a 2nd degree BB in Jujitsu so confident he could avoid the submissions of Palhares that he saw his only way out to insure he was all slippy.

Marquardt has been a black belt for ages. He also teaches BJJ; his most notable student being Shane Carwin.

Marquardt once said he could beat Maia in a grappling match (puke). I think he'd own Palhares again because he knows exactly how to slip that ankle lock, I'm sure he did it 100000x in his camp for the fight and he evaded it like it was his job (which it is). Striking department Palhares isn't up to Marquardt's level.

I agree he's overrated since he's such a choker, but my big gripe with him is he's never aged, wtf. The dude has been fighting for like the same amount of time as Bas Rutten, and has a ton of fights.

edit: You think Marquardt couldn't stand with Bisping? Who has bisping ever outstruck? Marquardt walked through Kampmann standing, only person to KO Maia, etc

Bisping hate aside, Marklar would get picked apart here if this happens.

I think Bisping would be able to keep it standing or bring it back up with little damage if taken down. And although Nate has decent standup, he doesn't do well against high caliber technical strikers. Bisping may not have KO power, but he'll outpoint Nate.

As someone that generally favors Bisping, I like this far more than the Sonnen fight which seemed like another GnP clinic in the making.

He has to get past Dan Miller first, I not to sure he will even do that, I might look at the odd here and if they are good enough put some money on Dan, I hope he loses then we may get to see the fight I really want to see Nate vs Palhares rematch only this time lets get to see who the best fighter really is.
