I just recently got really deep into learning MMA and wanted to know more about it... I know that many fighters usually know like a form of boxing such as kickboxing or wrestling and a martial arts form. I really don't know where to go from here as I don't know if I should do boxing first or the martial arts. I want a form of martial arts with a good balance between kicking and punching and grappling. I am doing boxing but I like the grappling part of MMA. What would be the best place to learn which art would best fit me or what do you guys think? Feel free to ask questions and I am going to be asking a ton...

I found this and it looks like a good one because it has been voted best gym in America and teaches all of those... How do I tell if it is a good academy or mostly just for making money? I really like this one and would like to dig more into it. Do you think you could help me find academy's near Milwaukee that teach those? I looked into Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and I like them both but I don't know if they are taught combined? Are they both taught or are they seperate? Because I see most pro's have like one form of martials arts and then wrestling, boxing, or kickboxing and I know that academy has boxing so I would most likely pick that but then I want also would like Muay Thai because its more striking but I know there is a lot of groundfighting in mma so BJJ would also benefit...

I don't really see a significance in strikes though. I would like to do more of a hybrid and somehow mix Muay Thai and BJJ in a good way that teaches both ground-fighting/grappling and stand-up strikes. I could do boxing and BJJ but boxing doesn't do any kicking and kickboxing doesn't get advanced as Muay Thai with the more advanced strikes... I wish I could do both but they are very different. I'm so stuck and have no clue what to do.

EDIT:
I just looked at best combinations and it said Muay Thai and BJJ are good but I thought it wasn't reccomended that two be learned at the same time... It also said to find an academy that mixes all together but I didn't think you can mix two forms of martial arts together... I thought Muay Thai and wrestling would be a good combination but then there is the ground clinching which is what BJJ does. I just need the best two skills that get a good balance between standup, clinch, and ground. I really want to do Muay Thai but I want to be able to do good on the ground too.

ANOTHER EDIT:
I really am getting interested in Muay Thai and Wrestling. Is wrestling anything like BJJ in the forms they teach you?

Practice them all and use what works and throw away what doesn't work. It's the way martial arts are going these days. As an example, one month ago, most MMA instructors would tell you not to waste time on front kicks, but Anderson Silva and Lyoto Machida have both KOed guys with them - keep an open mind.

Damn, I just noticed it is in North Milwaukee and that is a half hour away from my house so I have no clue how I would get there and back :( Do you think you could look for some good gyms within like 15 minutes of Nashotah, Wisconsin? Ones that teach Muay Thai, BJJ, and Wrestling?

EDIT:
I found this one which is a bit closer but it doesn't have Muay Thai: http://www.trainatwmma.com/
Is kickboxing related to Muay Thai and would it be a good alternative?
