Saw a few threads talking about this season. I wanted a thread just for play by play and general chit chat!:thumb02:

Anyone else found Shamar's discussion with Dana hilarious? "Oh, yeah, I just wanted to show that I can stand and bang too, that's why I didn't wrestle". How do you call your 100 unsuccessful TD attempts then? Maybe that's the reason why you stood with him.. :confused05: :thumb02:

I found it sad and pathetic

losers find excuses, winners find a way to win

and he was all excuses, he tried to fool himself but didn't fool Dana

they should have Len and Shamar fight in the finals, and the winner will get a title shot, just for the laughs, they're so full of themselves.

Loving Cope, he'll eventually lose to one of the "semi top dogs" but he's modest/humble and that can take him far enough

that said, "I'm not imbressed by their purformenses" GSP or Diaz could take them all at once with one arm

I'd like to see some stuff like Kos or Fitch vs Shamar, just for the fun of it

I really hate that shamar guy and totally agree with Dana, bring back the prelims, waaay to many posers here
agree with the schreck comment too

CC had AMAZING TDD. Going into the fight I thought Shamar would easily take CC down, just like he did with the guy in his first fight. However, I don't agree with the decision, and that fact that it was 20-18 is a little absurd. Shamar was the agressor the entire fight, all CC did was defend, I dont see how defending gets you a win when you don't engage.

I don't understand how when you consider the absurd amount of punches that Cope landed against the cage while defending the TD you could not give him the fight. He kept it standing, and peppered with those tiny shots over and over and over. When a fight is largely a stalemate those 30 or 40 little shots per round make a massive difference.

this

Shamar was the "agressor", but he virtually landed nothing AT ALL during the whole fight, and he kept getting hit while "agressing", over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over... and over

to win a fight you want to actually do some damage, and Shamar, while agressive, did no real damage (no punches/no kicks, no TD, no sub attemps) and was completely shut down by CC.

CC just let him run into him and started to land small punches.

Shamar didn't hit CC, really, he just hugged him for 10 minutes

Am I the only one who thinks Ryan McGillivray is another great guy coming out of the house? I remember watching him fight ona card that was supposed to play out as a tournament for LGIO over a series of events mma and Ryan fought to a draw which left me somewhat confused as he and his opponent looked like the best fighters on the card and they never explained who advanced. Turns out it didn't matter as the tournament never played out.

fights are judged on effective striking, grappling, aggression and octagon control.

Cope clearly was almost the only one throwing so he gets striking.

Shamar failed to obtain the TD making his attempts at grappling ineffective. advantage Cope.

Aggression is the only one I see as clearly for Shamar.

Octagon control is kinda toss up because despite the fact Shamar failed to obtain the TD he did keep alot of the action against the cage.

I see this as being a clear winner here.

he didn't dictate much by missing ALL of his takedown

Shamar "let's go to the ground"
Chris "sorry dude, not happening"

I don't call this "dictate where the fight takes place"
and he got reversed more than once against the fence, in round 2, chris moved better, taking the center on many occasions etc...

Shamar barely "dictated" anything and barely landed anything I'm not sure he even was fighting

#265 ·
yeah exactly.

And this was also one of the reasons why I got so upset with the latest InsideMMA episode where 4 wrestlers were sitting there and where pounding their chests like:"wrestling is the ultimate martial art!"

Not saying that wrestling is not an important PART of MMA or fighting at all for that matter, but to sit there and be like (“uhh look at his nice uniform, I bet it jiu jitsu harharhar”) is just pissing me off.

Again, I like and respect the art of wrestling but if you ONLY rely on this it's f/n boring. Who wants to pay good money to see Shamar laying on people....Stop pounding your chest guys. There is no ultimate martial art. There are just good fighters and bad ones.

Find me another one were the guy held against the cage out stuck his opponent even nearly that drastically. We see guys held against the cage like that lots but Randy Couture for example likes to hold guys against the cage not just stall there getting punched in the face because his TD is completely ineffective.

Shamar clearly won the first and lost the second that was an absurd decision. Chris did almost nothing in the first Shamar won basically every striking exchange in that round. Those taps don't mean anything when weighed against getting hit by real punches. There should have been a third round and Shamar probably would have gassed and lost the fight but that was bad judging.

technically, if you want to win a fight, you'll eventually want to punch your opponent in the face

hugging him against the fence is not exactly the same "sport" and if you go out, pick a fight, and start hugging the guy instead of punching him, people are gonna start wondering "what the?", you'll then eventually end up in a "Cher" music video or on "american idol" :sarcastic12:

Shamar wasn't fighting, he was hugging, and he obviously didn't control much as each and every TD attempt (and there were many) was stuffed (easily, should I say).

it was obvious he wanted the fight to go to the ground and it never, ever happened.

even tho he later told, in his pathetic, sad attempt to get to DW, he wanted to "show he could stand and trade", he barely showed he could stand and hug, but again, he'll have much more chance applying for a reforming of the village people.

Winners can find the means to win, losers only find excuses

Wow. Good episode, but I have lost ALL respect for Tony Ferguson. I don't care if he was drunk. He talked shit about another man not being able to see his son. Then again after he cooled off! Are you kidding me?

I hope gets into the UFC and gets worked. :fight03:

In defense of Tony Ferguson I'm sure many of the guys felt the same way about Charlie. You have a child you have to provide for that child, we saw you fight and you looked like shit, it doesn't look like you have a chance in hell of making a living fighting so you do need to get out.

No respect for how Tony went about it, but Charlie needs to get the message and get a real job and pay his child support.

#275 ·
I think the thing was that he wasn't allowed to see his child, not that he wasn't supporting him or w/e.

Either way Tony is a grade A prick. I'm sure Charlie is doing what he thinks is best for his family.

Another thing is how unprovoked the attack was. They were all messing around, and Tony lost his shit. The more I think about the more I dislike Tony. WAR COLD STEEL!! (but probably WAR RAMSEY @ TUF finale)

#276 ·
Why did Chuck write a check to Charlie if it wasn't a Child Support thing? Charlie may think he's doing what's best for his family but this is the same guy that was offended by the "chicken shit into chicken salad" and who quit in his fight with Ramsey.

I forgot Chuck writing a check for Charlie.

W/e the point I'm trying to make is that Tony is a total dickhead. To the point where the UFC should be careful about signing him. That response wouldn't have been appropriate even if Charlie actually hit him, and all he did was poor beer on his head when they were all goofing around. Charlie didn't even know Tony was actually mad.

Serious anger problems. :confused03:

Tuf 13 Episode 9 RECAP + Tony & Charlie Dispute

Pretty great fights tonight considering what we've seen so far. Action packed. One ko finish from Tony and great heart displayed from Zach.

Zach and Charlie go the distance. Charlie wins UD.
Tony defeats Ryan via KO first round.

Now on to the Tony and Charlie dispute. The whole house 'celebrated' the semi finals. And with that comes alcohol. So Tony & Charlie get a little rough than confrontational. Tony than talks about Charlies kid. Saying 'Wheres your kid?'.

From what I've read on fourms is that Tonys the bad guy. I do agree to a certain extent he's the bad guy. However I'll play devils advocate. If you guys play close attention in his pre fight interview. He discusses how he never had a father and how he only grew up with his mom.

So from my understanding Tony has the experience of not having a father. This obviously triggered his childhood emotions. And I mean what kind of father is Charlie? For this guy to get his kid taken away? Probably not a good one. I mean comon. He's on a reality T.V. show lost his first fight. And says he needs to find a 'way' to get his kid back. Comon guys this guys no good.

Sorry for my rant. But I mean every ones bashing Tony b/c of what he said without looking deeper into the issue. You gotta cut the guy some slack cause he's had no father.

Lmao.. U really can turn chicken shit (situation) into a chicken salad!.. Hats off to u.

It doesnt matter what Charlie is doing wrong.. it doesnt matter if Charlie isnt taking care of his son,, It doesnt matter if he took money from Chuck because he requested him to... Thing is.. We CAN NOT judge anyone for their mistakes. Or may i say.. we SHOULD NOT.. Whatever his problems are.. thats his personal matter.. No one should poke his nose in another man's personal life.

Tony definitely crossed the line for no damn reason. And i hope he pays for it. nonetheless I am expecting a good fight between Chuck and tony next week.

Ferguson is looking a little like a mexican Junie Browning.

Somewhere hes scared shitless and the pressure is getting to him. Hes doing things to sabotage himself, so he doesnt have to deal with the stress anymore. But, hes not going to intentionally ruin his chances, hes going to set it up so someone does it for him.

That side comes out when he drinks?
