Spike TV confirms 32-man "TUF 14" cast; elimination round back, wild-card picks gone

As expected "The Ultimate Fighter 14" will feature featherweight and bantamweight fighters for the first time in the six-year history of the realuty series.

Spike TV officials today announced the show officially is in production and revealed some of the show specifics.

MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) subsequently confirmed some additional details for this season, which kicks off Sept. 21 on Spike TV.

Today's announcement stated the cast will feature 32 fighters who immediately competed in an elimination round of fights. The winners got a spot in the "TUF" house, and the losers weren't sent home. UFC officials nixed the elimination round with "TUF 13," which was met largely with disappointment.

MMAjunkie.com has confirmed that with 32 fighters, the recently adopted wild-card picks and wild-card fight have been eliminated from the tournament. Eight fighters will compete in the featherweight division, and eight fighters will compete in the bantamweight division.

The seventh, eighth, ninth seasons, 11th and 12th seasons of the show saw the use of the elimination round, and "TUF 11" then saw the implementation of second-chance wild-card entries into the quarterfinals. For "TUF 14," the elimination round remains, but the wild-card picks are gone.

"TUF 14" features UFC middleweight contender Michael Bisping and Strikeforce transplant Jason "Mayhem" Miller as coaches. Following the UFC-WEC merger earlier this year and the implementation of new weight classes, 135-pounders and 145-pounders are featured on "TUF" for the first time ever.

"TUF," which debuted in 2005 and quickly became a driving force for the UFC's move into the mainstream, had launched the careers of more than 100 UFC fighters and has produced past champions such as Rashad Evans, Forrest Griffin and Matt Serra.

I assume that was a typo. I can't imagine 32 guys living in that house.

most likely NOT a typo

8 FW + 8 BW = 16 fighters right

there's an elimination round so out of 32 fighters, they'll go down, cutting the losers of each elimination fight, to 16 fighters, as in 8FW+8BW

32 fighters will fight 16 elimination fights, the winners of these 16 fights will be on the show, the losers will go home
I'm confused

let me break it down

there will be 8FW and 8BW, that's 16 fighters overall

There will be 32 fighters in episode one, out of these 32 fighters, they will do 16 fights (as there's 2 fighters per fight), therefore out of the 32 fighters coming in, there will be 16 winners and 16 losers, the losers will go home and the 16 winners will go in the house to do the show

they did it in some previous seasons due to some fighters whining and not really wanting to be there (like "I miss my girlfriend/kids/whatever, I wanna go home)

First episode will show the 16 fights (or most likely parts of the 16 fights) and present the 16 winners

out of the 16 fights, both coaches will also have the chance to see the fighters and make their picks

Do you know what hes asking? You just confirmed the fact its a typo. The fighter dont go to the house before the elmination round. Losers kick rocks winners go to the house. So the loser "werent" sent home is a typo unless that means something else besides were not.
