After talking to a source close to the situation MMABay.co.uk can reveal that Strikeforce heavyweight champion, Alistair Overeem is on the verge of putting pen to paper on an exclusive deal to fight inside the UFC’s octagon with his debut likely to come in December.

We spoke to a source close to “The Reem” earlier today and they explained that the wheels were in motion for the Dutchman to headline the UFC 140 card in Toronto, Ontario, Canada opposite former UFC heavyweight champion, Brock Lesnar.

We were told by the source that talks are still ongoing between Overeem’s management team and the UFC, with Golden Glory insisting that their man either competes immediately for the title or a big money fight against the promotions biggest Pay-Per-View draw in Lesnar.

We must stress that talks are ongoing at the minute between all parties and is in no way confirmed as happening. Stay tuned to MMABay in the coming weeks for more news on this as we get it.

Not sure how legit this is, Overeem wasn't close to a deal yesterday and Lesnar stills needs to be cleared, but if true this is interesting.

I see Lesnar taking Overeem down and winning via TKO. But if Lesnar can not get this fight to the ground he is going to get demolished.

Lesnar once again coming off another diverticulitis to take on a guy like The Reem? He sure deserves his respects, if it's true

Interesting match-up for both guys. K1 guy x guy who doesn't like to get hit. On the other hand, top-credential wrestler x almost one-dimensional striker

Hope this is true. If so, I'll be seriously pumped. Only to see how the Overeem lovers react to Lesnar Donkey Konging his way to victory. If it happens, please, please Brock, don't stand with him a minute longer than you have to! Double leg! Clinch and trip! Just do not get too over confident over Werdum not getting knocked out.

Brock sure can rake in the dough... A fight like this is gonna draw in 500,000 PPVs and $2,000,000 in gate fa sho!!!

Add in another championship fight and it'll be gold.

Sadly I think the fight will probably last three minutes. Alistair along with Big Foot and Carwin (full strength) are the only heavyweights who are strong enough to repel his takedown.

Yah I see it already. Brock goes for his usual take down, Overeem sprawls and knees the heck out of em backing up Brock. That's when Overeem lands a left hook to the head/liver and then a kick and starts busting his K-1 combos. Brock will then shoot again with Overeem sprawling and then knocking him out with massive ground and pounding.

Their combined weight will be over 500+ pounds. That's the equivalent of Emanuel Yarborough (remember Keith Hackney) or Big Show which is ridiculous if you think about how much muscle they're packing.

Make it happen Zuffa!!!

Try one million or more, Lesnar ALWAYS delivers million dollar buys, add in the fact he's facing a guy like Reem, people will be all over that.

I'll wait for a more credible source (has one been posted in this thread? I'll find out after this post)

But if this fight was to happen, I have Alistair winning by KO or UD, but I see it being very very one sided.

Haha that made me :thumb02:

In all seriousness, if Alistair does indeed stuff the first barrage of takedowns... Brock is going to be taking a few Uberknees to the face and lose via destruction.

Brock would take Overeem down straight away, I'm pretty sure of that. Question, does he have the top game to keep him there because size won't be enough? Cain popped right up from underneath Brock, so why can't Overeem who's bigger and potentially stronger?

Could be a bad match up for Brock.

This is about as close as a silverback gorilla match as we're going to get.

I see Lesnar shooting in and getting caught in a tight guillotine. Due to Lesnar's 50 inch neck, I see him escaping and smashing Overeem with Alistair eventually able to use his massive strength to get up and eventually thrown back down but survives the first round.

In the second, Alistair jabs Lesnar from a distance until Lesnar pushes him up against the cage and slams him down. This time, Overeem takes too much punishment and the ref steps in.

Brock via 2nd round TKO.
