Insight is right there, bro. Thing is, it all makes sense what he is saying. Especially being a tall rangy guy myself, the worst thing that can happen to me standing is when a shorter Tysonesque guy is getting up in my face with short hooks and body blows instead of moving around and giving me time to find my range. That's the biggest mistake Rampage made and that's what cost him. Otherwise Rampage's takedown defence was excellent throughout.
That's what Rashad has to do in the stand up, imitate Tyson and then let his natural grappling gifts fall into place.
Evans was, essentially, saying Rampage was using the wrong strategy. Rampage needed to be in or out.
I don't know if Evans was saying that because that's his personal talent or if that's really the right strategy. What Rampage did was certainly wrong... so I guess we'll see if Evans' strength is what's needed to counter Jones.
Damn that was pretty accurate of him. "This is where Jones is gonna start getting tricky" ... Jones starts getting tricky. "Look for Jones to take Rampage down and finish him in this 4th round" ... Jones takes Rampage down and finishes him.
Seems like at the very least he knows Jones' game and analyzes it well. Whether analysis is enough to beat it though....
Rashad will be a great commentator or even media guy for FOX when he decides to retire, its always entertaining listening him dissect a fight, and giving his opinion on it.
Can't wait for this fight, still picking JBJ, but I think Rashad will give him his toughest test.
Rashad looks to be genuinely confident for this fight. He knows that he can't stand and think infront of JBJ, he needs to let it go and fight. The game is always 90 percent half mental.
...I'm not into posting links but check out Chuck Liddell's take on the Jones/Evans fight on MMAweekly.com. Interesting but I don't agree with his analysis. Rashad was with Greg Jackson for how long? Who's gonna be in JJ's corner come fight time? I'm sure Greg knows all of Rashad's weaknesses and will put together plan A & plan B gameplans for Bones. Jones is a 6 to 1 favorite for a multitude of reasons. I honestly think the biggest problem for Rashad is getting past that incredible reach that possesses serious strikes...
So we know he's going to pressure him and push him backwards and try to put him on his back....I'm sorry but no shit Shad!
I've got Rashad pushing forward too quick jamming his punches and getting throw on his head from the clinch.
But I'm interested to see how well Rashad can work his gameplan.
