Does the UFC Reward TRT Users and Cheaters??

When you hear the names Alistair Overeem, Chael Sonnen and Dan Henderson what is the first thing that comes to your head? Is it that each one of these fighters is knocking on the door of having UFC Gold around there waist? Each one of these guys is up for a title fight. And everyone of these fighters have seemed to have found the loop hole in MMA by using TRT to enhance their performance during their training camp, so that they have at huge advantage over the other guy across the cage.

The NSAC will allow you to test levels up to 6:1 for testosterone. This is basically humanely impossible in its own right, and now fighters are cycling on TRT during their camps so they can get their levels down in time for testing, but yet..Can train like a BEAST…And sometimes they get caught..But The Reward seems to outweigh the risk in UFC…

Chael Sonnen was caught with testosterone levels at 10:1 right before his title fight with Anderson Silva. He has a prescription for TRT…But those levels are above the 6:1 allotted by the NSAC….Chael Served a Minimal suspension and 2 fights later he’s fighting for the UFC Gold again…Still cheating..still using TRT..Just cycling better…

Dan Henderon Is another example of a fighter who has been on TRT for many years. He has that great 1 punch KO power…How good would that one punch be If he wasn’t cheating??? And look he’s in line for title shot as well.

And then you have Alistair Overeem, who the UFC seems to bending over backwards to protect so they can put on their Mega fight with JDS. Even though Alistair had elevated levels of testosterone 14:1… But his reward is fighting for the UFC Gold

Make no mistake TRT is cheating..You can go on a special diet for 7-10 days of eating soy products and lower your testosterone count, which they only test you 1 time..Yes 1 time..And Bam..You got a Lifetime script….It’s not allowed in any major Sports…Just Bodybuilding, WWE, and MMA…LOL..Nice groups to be part of…

Where has Alister ever said he uses TRT? That is a big assumption on your part!

I agree, there is a mega loophole that is being used here...

See the bold...

Well, the NSAC had little to do with this case. He tested high in California, so the CSACdid the test. Also, he tested at 16.9:1 not 10:1 and he served a year suspension.

I agree, TRT is cheating, but still not sure where you get the Overeem info!

Sorry..Everything i've read in recent days has said that Overeem is going to use the TRT defense..I guess I could be jumping the gun on that since he-himself hasn't said officially he is using TRT..But it just appears it's going in that direction..Sorry for that...

It's the fighters making the most of being able to take advantage of a loophole. There's not a lot the UFC can do if those guys happen to be winning fights, and earning title shots.

I don't see it as the UFC rewarding them so much as not doing anything to stop it. Until they do random drug test any day of the year for any fighter, and actually do it, fighters will cycle like madmen.

I agree that TRT is generally a loophole for steroid users, and the UFC isn't doing much to discourage it.

But 6:1 is not impossible for a person to have naturally. It's very unlikely for any specific person to have it, but a large population will have some people with abnormal ratios.

Also, I wouldn't rely on eating soy to lower testosterone.

Edit: Oh and therapeutic use exemptions for TRT are allowed in the NFL, NHL, PGA, and Olympics. I don't know about MLB or NBA.

Granted, at least half (at least 1 of the 2) of the Americans who have used TRT in the Olympics have lost both of their testicles. Both the mixed martial artists whose pre-TRT testosterone levels we know were too high to really be called hypogonadal. So I think it's fair to say that USADA's guidelines are tougher than most athletic commissions.

im completely prepared to get flamed for this... but TRT, if done correctly, is not cheating. If you follow the rules, apply the right paper word and get the correct exemptions, you're all in the good. TRT is a medical situation that the NSAC allows if done correctly.

They may allow certain uses of it, but it's still cheating imo. If it takes a 40 year old guy, and lets him lift 100 lbs more, and feel like he's 20, that's cheating, and it should be banned. Your body is telling you it's time to stop if you need steroids to boost back up to compete.

Putting up 100lbs more is more that TRT will do for you. It would take serious steroids to accomplish that.

And if you say that it's cheating, do you also frown on those who have better diets and supplements that will keep their natural test levels higher? They are putting stuff in their bodies to make them perform better. Not the same thing?

Some people just make more test than others and trt (in theory, if not abused) should just even the playing field.

what needs to happen is either a rules change or at least a clarification when it comes to testosterone. i think it would be great if the NSAC or CSAC put out a press release explaining to the fans and fighters exactly what is accepted and what the exemptions are. right now, some of the people clearly are getting away with it on the regular while some guys are getting caught and turned into villians. I don't think Dan Henderson, who has admitted openly to using TRT, has ever failed a test of any kind.
