Cheick Kongo defeated Shawn Jordan by unanimous decision (30-28, 30-27, 30-27)

Cheick Kongo and Shawn Jordan were expected to engage in a slugfest. It turned out to be a hugfest. Both fighters continually clinched up against the cage, awkwardly looking for takedowns and grinding away without anything really happening. Kongo was the one in control though, and grinded out a unanimous decision victory. If you didn't see the bout, be thankful that you did something much better with those 15 minutes.

Jordan looked for a takedown early in the first against the fence but Kongo defended well. Kongo spun around to Jordan's back, but Jordan hit him low with an elbow. Oh, the irony. Kongo took a couple of minutes to restart, and came out with a nice head kick. Kongo backed Jordan up against the cage, and the two jockeyed for position for the rest of the round.

Kongo opened the second with a nice knee. They clinched up against the cage again for a while, which wasn't exactly exciting. Finally the separated after two minutes and Kongo connected with two big rights. Kongo ended up with Jordan's back against the cage again, but nothing happened again. Kongo finally got him down, but got reversed and Jordan ended up on top. He rode out the round on top but inflicted no damage.

Kongo landed some strikes early in the third, but they went right back against the fence. Jordan was visibly gassing, but Kongo continued to clinch up with him, content to tie him up and land a few small shots here and there. Kongo landed a nice knee late, but it was a dreadful fight overall.
