Cristiane "Cyborg" Santos (10-1-1 NC) reported that doctors recommend she not cut weight from 145 pounds to 135 pounds. UFC president Dana White said that the promotion would help her make the weight cut in safe way of dieting.

"She can get to this weight," said White. "We have an expert who can help you lose weight in a healthy way. We have Mike Dolce, who has wrestlers lose weight and still feel good and it's all about your diet. He is 100 percent ready to work with her and will not cost anything to Cris."

UFC hall of famer Tito Ortiz (16-11-1), who represents Santos, has told her not to make the weight cut and suggest she fight somewhere else. White thinks that Santos needs to make the weight cut now, while there's still interest in a 135 pound fight with Ronda Rousey (6-0).

"Cyborg needs to get on the boat," said White. "If she wants to fight in the UFC, she'll have to fight this category of 135 pounds. The stupidest thing about it is that she has Tito Ortiz as his manager."

No word on if Cyborg has taken the UFC up on their offer about a diet expert.

I don't care to be honest the size and strength advantage is why the fight is interesting. I have no doubt rhonda is the better fighter but the interest is whether she could overcome cyborgs physical advantages which she will lose if she fights at 135.

She should sign to fight at 135 and then not bother to lose the weight and come in at 145. That fight will be the main event and for a title, so you know the UFC will pressure Ronda to accept the fight. If Cyborg loses, good for Rousey, if she wins, it wouldn't give her a title, but it would create a lot of buzz for a rematch.

This fight is six months out. Like Fourth of July, maybe. Cyborg can cut ten pounds by then. Especially since it's really cut to 104, so you can be 135 at the weigh-in. Also, let's be blunt. 145 on 'roids can make 135 without.

AS for Tito ... fifteen years ago, I'd say it to his face, get in the cage with him, and take my ass-whuppin'. Too old to do that, so I won't call him out, but I believe his managerial advice, in this case, isn't the absolute best.

I am a fan of Women's MMA. But, I'm only kinda glad that they are coming to the UFC. Honestly, I would much rather the UFC purchase Invicta and make it into the WUFC because I think just putting women as another division in an already division crowded company will turn off a lot of people. I think that guys have a hard time watching women fight so violently. If Lauzon v Miller were women and that blood was everywher, it'd made the news in a bad way. I could be wrong and I hope I am. But on to the topic...

Because I am a big WMMA fan, I may be the only 1 that doesn't want to see Cyborg v Rousey. Cyborg v Rousey could certainly destroy WMMA in the UFC. Cyborg is horrible for women's MMA in a PR standpoint. She's big, ugly, extremly violent, and has pissed dirty for PED's. Just look at what happened with Cyborg v Carano. WMMA was on a hot streak with Gina being the poster child. Like Rousey, Gina is beautiful and talented and was the top draw in WMMA. In comes this gigantic, freakish looking Cyborg that crushed Carano. I thought WMMA was over when Cyborg won. And it almost was. Not until a few years later when Ronda came in and started getting hot did it start to have more success. Ronda Rousey winning and being the champion and poster child is good for WMMA. Ronda getting her head crushed by Cyborg, which I think she would, would be horrible for it. Guys usually dont like to see the pretty girl get beaten up by the big girl. That's just the way it goes in my opinion, so I hope this fight doesn't materialize. At least for a couple of years while Ronda carrys this thing into mainstream popularity. Please dont hate on me for it, but thats my 2 cents.

Why does it have to be 135lbs though? Why cant they just make it a one time catchweight fight at 140lbs and be done with it? Oh yea I forgot, Dana White has a crush on Rousey and will do anything for her... my bad.

We know the stance of Womens MMA in the UFC, White only has 3 women under contract (Rousey/Carmouche/Tate) and Liz was a fall back after she herself stepped out and campaigned herself online to get signed, no else seems happy to jump on board the 135lbs division and fight Rousey right now. Basically all I am saying is this. Dana White doesent have a real plan for Womens MMA in the UFC. He is practically winging it. After the Rousey/Liz fight he has no clue what to do next. His main beef is that it didnt have much good women to make a division, and guess what nothing changed its still the same faces but Dana blocked most of them that were in the 145lbs division. Women's MMA in the UFC has the same alarming issues it always had right before it even begins. He is really banking that Rousey can somehow muster 500+K PPV Buys because he didnt even stack the card. We all know it only has one big time fight on it and thats Machida/Hendo. Basically Dana came in this blind folded and with his penis out asking where the sex is at.

Now he is alienating all the other women that doesent want to fight Rousey or fight at 135lbs. If he wanted to make a good womens division, just make the title a "Womens Champion" and have a huge range between 100-150lbs just like the HW division, and there you go, its alot more deeper. I find Dana trying to force Cyborg Santos to cut weight to 135lbs to fight in the UFC is insulting. Yea Cyborgs only option is to fight in Japan or Invicta if not the UFC, but Santos is a dominant champion herself before Rousey came into the picture, but she is getting crapped on by Dana and his girlfriend, and not respected like the rest.

They are using her drug test fail to make her look like a villain, but Dana has sided with a bunch of PED users in the past and still loved them and gave them chances. Dana has always been about favoritism. If Dana wasent just the figure head and Lorenzo wasent the one making the real business decisions, the UFC could have bombed. In negotiating, their is supposed to be give and take, but their is alot of taking against Santos here. Its more of a take it or leave it thing, Tito has a right to be upset about this.

I would like this fight to happen where it was done with the best interests of both sides, I respect that Rousey has skill, but I never bought into her as the "face of Women's MMA" just because she is American and the UFC lost the American Market under Canada and Brazil and would like to raise it back by promoting Americans more. So basically, I would smile a little if Cyborg Santos manages to smash her into a bloody pulp in front of her boyfriend (Dana White). I used to respect Dana alot and would defend him, but now im on the side saying that he is bad for the sport and getting worse over time.

People who jump on Ortiz may have overread the first sentence of the artice:

Cristiane "Cyborg" Santos (10-1-1 NC) reported that doctors recommend she not cut weight from 145 pounds to 135 pounds.
So it's not only Ortiz, but also her doctors. And she is no wrestler who is used to cutting weight for ages, so such a cut would probably have a bad effect on her performance.

If it isn't for the belt anyways, they can do it at a catch weight if White and Rousey want that fight so badly.

The way I see it is this:

Lose the roids, drop the bulk, make the 135 limit.

Im sorry but as soon as she stops the roids for a good length of time the bulk will shift it's self.

It's no use saying Ronda should go up to 145 to fight her as the womens 145 UFC division doesnt exist.

People are saying Tito is a tool but I can see where he is coming from with this. Cutting weight can be dangerous to your health. Cormier is a prime example of this. Besides that how many fighters look like crap in their fights because they dropped so much weight.

It's hard to have much sympathy for Cyborg. If she had remained clean she would have been calling the shots and could make Rousey come up to her weight. Since she cheated, she can lose the weight for a big payday or she can try to go somewhere else and be the big fish in the little pond.
