Am i seeing a big difference where there isnt one??? Im having a really hard time telling if the difference is just in my head or an illusion or if the guy is obviously ALOT smaller and less defined in the UFC 156 weigh in pic.

If he did stop the juice im surprised he was acting so cocky in the fight. You would think it would have made him more unsure of himself.

I'm sure I read somewhere that one of the effects of TRT usage is the ease with which fat is lost and the "shreaded" look is achieved... Although without a side by side comparison in the same pose/lighting it's tough to be 100% certain.

In any event, the fighter that fought on Saturday was a very different beast to the monster that destroyed Brock - IMO he looked sluggish with a marked lack of snap to his punches, I believe that we saw on Saturday was the real Overeem - all/most of his previous HW fights need a very large asterix by them.

The version of Overeem that fought on Saturday barely makes the UFC H/W top 10 in my opinion.

There's a lot of talk about how he didn't take the fight seriously etc etc. for goodness sake, we are talking about the man who effectively ended Fedor's career... there is no way Overeem should have taken Big Foot lightly...

The man's a fool

The flip-side is this win maybe exposes how much hype was behind Brock. Was Brock ever 100% after his surgery? Did people just buy into the Overroid hype train because he beat some "damaged goods" (the former HW poster-boy) -- all while AO was likely juiced up? I'm thinking there is some truth to this, considering it was a knee to the gut that AO used to stop Brock.

AO did look flat at the weigh-ins -- I don't need to see it from the same "angle and lighting" to make that observation. However he could have cut less weight, and not have been as dehydrated either. Getting extra water weight out of your body makes you look more ripped...

I agree with you 100% though -- there's an asterisk beside every one of his wins in my eyes.

Meh, Overeem hardly looked to be a 'shell' of his former self.

The Reem who fought Fabricio looked ten times worse and I'm pretty certain he was on the juice then. Overeem looked fine in the first two rounds and controlled Big Foot rather easily, despite fighting like an arrogant jackass. People are reaching... the only thing different about Overeem this last weekend was that he left his jaw five feet out. I doubt he'll do the same in future.

People who use his performance against Brock as the measuring stick probably haven't seen a lot of his fights.

Won't matter. He's in a league now where he's going to get punched and taken to the ground. The guy can't fight past 10 minutes.

Beating up Bigfoot? Was Bigfoot even hurt once? Dude, you are drinking warm stale kool-aid. Overeem did zero damage. Bigfoot was overflowing with energy in the 3rd round, like Thor with lightning striking his hammer. I've never seen someone of that size throw a flurry like that.

Overeem basically pulled a Shane Carwin. He went as hard as he could for 2 rounds and just about couldn't come out for round 3. Can you image him in there with Cain? Can you imagine him taking shots from JDS?

Right now he's in the league of Kongo, Struve and Big Nog and I'm not sure he's beating them either.

Big Foot got worked over and controlled those entire first two rounds. There's really no debating that. And the reason Overeem came out weary in round three is because he ate a knee from Big Foot in the closing seconds of the second round. Many people speculate that said knee actually set Reem up for that barrage of punches.

Try watching and following the actual fight before you accuse anyone of drinking 'kool aid'.

He looks like he has more water-weight in the 156 pic. Who knows if that's just the way his cut went, or if him trying to be clean(er) has changed his physique.

Speaking strictly about his physique, it's clear that his muscle is not nearly as lean or defined.

He mentioned in his documentary at the commission hearing regarding his past failed test, that he had gained 9 pounds and referred to it as 'getting bigger'. By getting bigger I assume he means getting fatter because he clearly didn't add muscle based on the pictures.

It could be lighting, an illusion, or psychological factors in play, but I too thought he was less defined. After reading the Mirko interview maybe it's true. Question is how much did "PED" effect it "if" he was truly on it. I mean if he loses his next two or three fights then we got a problem here. Otherwise he wasn't owning/dominating, but he was certainly beating and winning Big Foot without a doubt.

R1: Octagon control, clinch ala Randy Couture style, with knees

R2: A sweet reverse throw in the clinch. Lots of body shots. Here's what I didn't understand. Usually when Overeem has someone in the top position with the exception of Werdum he looks for the submission OR he throws bombs.

- maybe he was conserving energy
- toying with BF

All he had to do was takedown BF in the 3rd round. So, I think if they ever rematched that would be the game plan. He's obviously significantly stronger. Take em down and GNP for all three or go for the TKO. He really opened up a can of worms with this momentary set back. It's happened many times in sports where the athlete or opposing team took their opponents lightly and didn't FINISH! All that matters now is what he does with this loss.

- Chuck lost to Rampage in Pride and came back and did some ass whupping...that is until Rampage entered the UFC.
- Wand lost against Vitor badly and lost a close decision to Tito...THEN he went on a tear.
- Vitor has had a tumultuous career and now has experienced a late surge
- Lyoto had two MAJOR set backs then a minor blip in between with Rampage. Now he's back on track and I think will contend for the title soon again.
- even Fedor got back on track albeit with less than stellar competition after the SF debacle
- GSP vs Serra
- Maia resurgence at 170
- Big Foot is probably one of the best examples as well. Got DEMOLISHED by DC then Cain. Quite enjoyable btw. Then what does he do. He gets two solid wins and now he's in possible title contention after one more fight or heck can be a last minute replacement.

Everybody wins and loses eventually. No one stays on top forever. That is why I hope Anderson retires although I'd also like to see him fight forever...haha.
