For months people have been moaning about Ronda entering the UFC and main eventing UFC 157. Last night Machida vs Henderson was a terrible fight and people were complaining because they wanted 5 rounds. If you ask me Ronda proved herself big last night with a fantastic fight and she certainly saved the card.

Absolutely I have a lot of respect for Liz for putting Ronda in trouble. Ronda is amazing she is the Anderson Silva of WMMA so any threat on her is an accomplishment.

It delivered a tad more than I thought, as Ronda had to work a bit longer for the armbar.

But it was still a armbar in the first.

Everyone is patting Liz on the back for having her back and not finishing for less than a minute of the round. I don't get it. Dana is like "people comes to me saying how liz is a set up fight, bullshit, she is a legit fighter". How can he say that, but then pat her on the back like a little kid for having Ronda's back for 30 seconds then getting armbared? Liz was all smiles after...as if she just became president. The fight was Ronda had her in a headlock for minutes. Liz escaped out the back and climbed on her back where she didn't finish a RNC. Then she went on to get armbared.

The fight was solid. A lot better than the co-main. But people are acting like Liz put up one hell of a fight. She was armbared in he 1st like everyone and their mother predicted...

I don't quite get it. If that shows how legit the division is, then someone help us all.

Meh, I think Liz was just happy that her and Ronda put on an exciting first female fight in the UFC. Nothing more, nothing less. And if we're being honest, whether she made grievous technical errors or not, she looked a lot better than anyone else who has fought Rousey. I imagine that has a bit of an affect on one's spirits (ie. Dan Hardy being thrilled for surviving 5 rounds with GSP).

And yes, most predicted an armbar in the first. But said moment was about ten seconds away from not happening.

I give Liz credit for staying game. But in the end she lost via armbar in the first. If we want to hold a parade because it was later in the first, then so be it.

We all thought armbar in firs 2 minutes. It was armbar in first 4.5 minutes. HooooRaaay! Ronda is still a novice in MMA. She had a headlock with no real angle on an armbar. So she just held a side headlock like WWE. How many guys get trapped in a side sitting down headlock for minutes? Liz finally escaped like any decent fighter would.

Faber got a much more experienced fighters back and finished. Liz got Ronda's back and tried to neck crank and then fell off her back.

I give her credit because she did better than any other woman. Well didn't Tate have Ronda's back too? So just as good as any other fighter has. But in the end it was a 1st round armbar.

The PPV wasn't that bad. You had an upset in Lawler/Kos, an active fight in McGee/Neer, a beautiful submission by Faber and a decent ME. The only bad fight was Machida/Henderson, which was OBVIOUSLY going to suck. Who honestly thought that fight would be good? Anyone?

And why is everyone overplaying the main event? Because Rogan was going crazy over a lousy neck crank? Come on. It wasn't that good. It was the 4th best fight of the night, and that's being generous.
Stupid post.

Aside from Henderson vs Machida and Johnson vs Schaub all the fights were pretty good. I think Dana by making all those unneccessary cuts lit a fire in a lot of the fighters. Bermudez vs Grice, Fodor vs Stout, McGee vs Neer, Kuivanen vs Chiesa were all good fights. I wouldn't say Rousey saved the card at all her fight was pretty good but I still have 0 interest in womens mma.

I wasnt really feeling 157 if im honest, which is very rare for me.

The Rousey/Carmouche fight was excellent though and I cant imagine the UFC could have hoped for a better first WMMA bout.

Those slamming Carmouche for being happy or whatever, this is a girl who until this, practically no-one had heard of. She came into the biggest fight of her life, fighting in a historical main event against an undefeated champion, and she got damn close to walking out with her hand raised. Yeah, she got armbarred in the 1st but come off it, it wasnt exactly a one sided beatdown like many predicted.

That one fight, where she came and put it all out there is more than likely going to make her a massive star in WMMA and also get her serious credit within the UFC. She's gonna be richer than she's ever been and will have a shit tonne more fans now than she did. How can she not be happy?

It's awesome that the women get to fight and compete etc, but I really REALLY don't want to have these cards mixed gender. That fight still looked like highschool dudes fighting each other to me and it simply is boring. I'd much rather have the cards separated personally.

Dana's lucky that that fight happened after Henderson and Machida cause it made the match up look much more exciting lol. I did appreciate the fire in both of them though, they both went out there to fight I at least give them credit for that.

are you saying that you want separate events for women and men? like WUFC#1 and then the next next week later UFC#158 etc?

That pre-lim fight was great. What's ironic is that I was pissing and moaning about Hendo/Machida playing second fiddle to Rousey-Carmouche. And I was complaining about WMMA. Then Hendo/Machida was slow and boring, whereas Rousey fight was great and entertaining. I was 100% wrong about WMMA (although I still feel like it should be an attraction as opposed to finding its way onto every card).
