Who should fight for the LHW title next

Who should get the next LHW title shot?

So Machida "won" his fight, I don't know if Dana is going to grant him a title shot after that. We also hear that if Alexander Gustafsson wins his fight he should get a title shot. And we have Daniel Cormier and Anderson Silva so after this event who should be the next person to contend for the Light Heavyweight Title?

Nobody. They should abolish the entire division.

But in all seriousness, LHW is the worst division out there right now aside from Flyweight. The only fighter that comes close to being a legitimate contender right now is Gustaffson. And he'll get humiliated if he ever fights Jones.

Great - like that means anything. Dana says a lot of things - including that women will never fight in the UFC.

Anyway, I say let Machida get the life choked out of him again. The rest of the competition is still a little green. While there's some promising talent, the UFC stands to gain nothing if JBJ beats the shit out of some of the up and comers so bad that the UFC can't sell a rematch. Let JBJ beat the shit out of Sonnen, Machida, Shogun, Rashad and Rampage for another 1-2 years until they've restored some credibility to the division.

The fact that they are even trying to sell a JBJ/Machida rematch blows my mind. They better have some good fights in-front of it, because JBJ didn't even break a sweat while choking Machida out unconscious. Not worth $50-$60 for a rematch at all.

If Gustafsson manages to do a clear win vs Mousasi be should get the next title shot.

Machida won vs Henderson. I cannot believe one judge has it 29-28 for Hendo...
I had it 30-27 for Machida. Still, the rounds were fairly close. That is why I think Gus should get the shot. He outlanded Shogun more clearly than Machida did to Hendo.

They should make Bones disappear, and have an old school UFC tournament on the night for the title with Machida, Gustafsson, Cormier, Henderson, Shogun and a couple of others

I don't think it is that much of a mess. It has been a mess because Bones turns down fights so does Machida. Sonnen is holding it up for months with this show. But Hendo was and still really is a legit contender. Machida is there. Gustaf is 100% deserving with a win. Then you have the best P4P lingering which is totally deserving. And Cormier I think should fight Machida, but a top 5 HW coming down to 205 is always interesting, and hardly ever has happened.

I think the division is pretty interesting right now. 3 pretty legit #1 contenders. Tex looming. Mousasi could upset. Then 2 guys from tops of other divisions possibly wanting in.

And still very entertaining fighters and big names on the outside like Lil Nog, Rashad, Bader.

If Gustaf wins, I'd like

Jones - Gustaf maybe in the fall.
Machida - Cormier maybe late summer.
Hendo - Lil Nog as soon as possible.
Rashad - Shogun in the summer.
Bader - Phil
Tex vs. lets say Te Huna.

If Mousasi pulls it off, Machida vs. Bones next. Cormier straight to title shot if he beats up Mir. Mousasi vs. Tex for next title contender sometime in he fall or winter.

Out of the list given Machida should be last. He already fought Jones and was easily beaten. Most fans are not going to want to see that rematch and pay 50$ for that PPV; unless UFC stack the card to make up for a lack luster main event.

I know on here there are hardcore fans that overlook these things but the casual fan does not want to work a couple of hours just to pay for a match that Machida loses. Not to mention Machida will be backing up the whole time.

...Poll reflects are curiousity about the length match-up factor. Now Jones not only has a skilled, tall striker like him with good hands & footwork, the reach factor is the intriguing part both kicks & punches. Honestly, If Gus starts catching JBJ like Machida did, Bread & Butter time for Jones, he will take Gus down and finish the fight. Gus is no match for JBJ on the ground. Gus deserves the shot. All the top dogs besides Hendo have gotten a crack at Jones and has either lost brutally, submitted or by clean UD...
