Is it Time for UFC to Dump Diaz

With a 1 for 3 record since returning to the UFC and a 7 for 13 lifeimte UFC record (just above .500) is it not time to give Nick Diaz the pink slip? Fight record aside, he has also demonstrated that he is not able to keep up his job obligations and his pressers are nothing short of a reckless onslaught of verbal diarrhea, saying one thing one minute and the complete opposite the next.

Come on Dana, it's time to rid your organization of this virus.

Funny that you mention Dan Hardy because that is exactly who I liken Diaz's offensive productivity to in his fight against GSP. For all intents and purposes, he had zero offensive production. Completely dominated. He and Hardy are the two worst performances I have seen in a while against GSP - an older, slower, post injusry GSP.

People complain to much. Diaz is a good fighter, quit crying. Dont watch his fights, dont read/watch his interviews if you guys dont like him. His name comes from everyone's mouth, he must be doing something right. Dont matter if you love him or hate him, you talk about him.

It is true, everyone talks about him. How can you not? Who is more confusing a fighter (or person for that matter) than Diaz. He certainly makes for interesting conversation. Good conversations don't necessarily make good employees and that is my point - why keep a guy like Diaz in your organization. And at this point I'm sure people are going to say "because he sells fights" but I'm convinced that a UFC without Diaz would not be any worse off in the revenue column than a UFC with.

How in the world can he be a top 5? I dont even see him as top 10. Who has he beat to get in the top 5? He is 1-2 in his last 3 fights, and the only win was vrs an old unmotivated and undersized BJ Penn.

He has NEVER won a big fight against a big fighter!

Why would you drop Diaz and keep Hardy? Fighting aside Nick Diaz is one of the few entertainers in the sport. People love to hate on him because of his imagine and the way he acts. He's not the most traditional guy, but defiantly belongs in the ufc. In my opinion after the Diaz-GSP fight it actually showed how overrated GSP is. It's funny how a few years ago everybody thought GSP would beat Anderson easily, now that fight nobody isnt remotely interesting as Anderson would beat him easily.

I don't get these comments. I've never found any of his fights entertaining. He has that Clay Guida thing going on. He's only exciting when his opponent fights like an idiot and I don't like watching two idiots fight. I like to see technique. Something which he uses somewhat on his punches but literally for nothing else. When he fights someone good he loses because he's easy to neutralize because his fight IQ is somewhere roughly in the negatives.

I've seen all of those fights. I still don't find him entertaining. Where as I can watch GSP's technique all day long. See for me it's not enough for the guy to show up to fight. I want to see technique and fighting spirit. If only one is there I want it to be technique.

They won't cut him. Dana put up with Tito Ortiz for years for the same reason he's putting up with Nick Diaz now. $$$$$

No way Jose.

I don't believe Dana feels he needs to put up with anyone in his organization. Lets put this into perspective - the fastest growing sports organization in the world, basically printing money right now, and you think they need to keep Nick Diaz. Nick Diaz, a pot smoking, mis-speaking, complaining, blame it on everyone, social misfit??? I don't think so.

Honestly, I don't see him fighting much longer anyway for some reason. I think UFC went through all the trouble and took all the risks with Nick just so they could get the big fight against GSP. Now that that's overwith, I don't think the UFC would figure its worth keeping him on the roster anymore being as unstable an 'Employee' as he is. I mean, what more big fights are people asking for that involve Nick? Diaz vs Anderson Silva? Diaz vs Condit II? Diaz vs Maia? I feel that he's too unstable to continue fighting for much longer anyways, especially if he's not involved in a favorable match-up.

Man I hate to say it but I agree. Nick kind off shot his wad against George. I dont think he is near as marketable as he was. His trash talkin before the fight didnt even make any sense and he looked like s**t in the fight. I would be a little pi**ed if I was Gracie. He keeps talking Gracie JJ is the best blah blah blah, then use it in your fights BRO. He also keeps talking he doesnt have this or that in his team like George, if I was part of his team I would have told him to stick it in his a**.

I don't like Diaz's fighting style, but others do, and I'm not one to suggest that all fights have to be only the kind of fights that I like, so I'm not so concerned about whether he's 'exciting' or not, or whether he's got a winning record or not.

The problem with Diaz is that he will eventually do something that will hurt the organization. Maybe it will be only something he does to himself and just embarrasses the organization, or maybe he will take a few people down with him, but he's just not the type of person you can trust to have around .. hell, even his own team knows he's a ticking time bomb to keep your distance from (as per the incident after the fight when he almost started a fight with the tristar team.)

NO, this time is past long ago, but we have another good opportunity again.

This thread brings up the clear line drawed between sport fans and entertainment "no matter what costs" fans. Sure the word "entertainment" here is also debatable.

Nick Diaz being in UFC or not lies in the company hands, but Nick Diaz does not deserve to compete in any elite fight league because simply he lacks the notion on the meaning of "sportsmanship". People confuse someone's abilitiy to run, jump, train and endure with "sportsmanship".
The simply fact some believes Nick brings money to UFC so this enough reason to keep this bad example around is very disappointing.

Nick Diaz should go away asap because on top of all unprofessional things he did and does he is a dirty fighter.

And if Paul Daley was dismissed for this, Nick should as well.

And what the true champion GSP did after that? The most respectiful post fight speech toward Nick he never deserved. I am sure Nick is not prepared yet for this kind of generosity, but GSP tought everybody a lesson right there, including me. Good luck Nick. There are issues way more important in your life to improve and they weigh way more than the UFC title you wanted.

Diaz says too much dumb shit, misses media obligations, acts like a punk in and out of the cage, 1-2 in his last 3 fights and two suspensions for marijuana.

I'd say if he gets popped for marijuana again then cut him loose. He's overrated and unprofessional.
