Bad fight, Roy was unfit and Stipe IMO lacks ability and confidence when under attack. JDS and Hunt would wreck him in the pocket, Velasquez and Cormier can bang with him with their wrestling to fall back on.

Roy isn't Champion material but he's the type of guy the division needs, a handful for anyone.

It's about time Roy either stopped eating McDonalds and started working out more, or give it up. He's turning into a human punching bag that gets a lucky KO.

Any fight that roy is losing he gasses in. Mir, jds, and now stipe.

This fight was a relative easy pick for me. Stipe has always had technical stand up. Even in the struve fight he was doing very well until those last 20 seconds where he got knocked out. Roy Nelson's kryptonite is a technical striker that has good foot work and can string together more then 2 punches. I thought roys only chance was to get him down cause hed win handily there.

Roy fought 6 weeks ago so its not like he could really be so out of shape he'd gas in the first round. He got hurt that is all.

It was amazing to see Miocic totally destroy Nelson's fat bully tactics and that big punch he used to ko ROsario, Struve and the like.

He blocked that overhead throw punch just by letting it slide on his left bicep and move his head sideways a little at the same time and he used this to even defend side angle hooks as well, jumped back of upercuts as well, technical and beautiful defusing of Nelsons bully punches.

It seems Nelsons is like a gatekeeper of higher arena of fighters if you can pass the fat beast you are into the A class of heavyweights, good luck with that fat chin protected by mystical Qi energy of shaolin because there is no way a human head can stand what he does.

dont care how "good" Roy is or how much power he has. This is MMA this is an athletic sport...if you wanna look like a Al Bundy-esque couch potato, your days wont be that long in the sport. Roy has no gas tank. When he is gassed be turns into a pitty-patty amateur boxer. I wont lie, I used to be a Big Country bandwagoneer, now I just lost interest and see thru the folly. Granted he has a good chin, but how far will that take you?

Who cares? I mean why cant the guy just do what he wants? He has achieved alot and what makes everyone else think that his accomplishments are any less just because he does things his way. Thats right because people have nothing better to do then judge other people to make up for their own short comings lol This same conversation has been going on for years....and still people wont just shut up and get over it. None of his fights have sucked so why do you care? So many of the fans sit at home and drink beer and are over weight. They arent bitching that the fighters are in to good a shape are they? Just STFU and watch the fight.

lest we not fool ourselves with Hollywood triumph type of stories. This is real life. There have been 3 obese players in the NBA who started off with great acclaim, then as their career matured, it became apparent that late night parties, fast food abuse and strip club binge drinking nights took a toll on their career reaching the next level. Im not telling Roy how to live his life. Im just being honest. Look at Butterbean. Butterbean has all the KO power in the world, but gets his ass kicked by welterweights everytime he is in Japan. If you wanna look like a cartoon, face the consequences.

Roy is very predictable. He's got power, but uses the same combos to knock guys out. Funny how different the fights go against people who know how to avoid the over hand right and not play into his game. He's talented as he'll. No one else with his size can do what he did now a days. He's going to look back on his career with a lot of regret one day.

as Joe Rogan brilliantly puts it his tougness is his curse he is used to knockout jobber-guys like flies and those with big egos who want to stand and bang with him to prove they are tough like Matt Mitrione, and he cares about nothing else but as soon a serious fighter steps in Roy is impotent.
