Have to say after seeing the second episode of Bellators show its definitely a lot more entertaining then the early episodes in the TUF series'. The last few seasons those episodes of TUF have been pretty boring, and I've almost been waiting for them to end, but Fight Master definitely maintained my interest.

The choosing of coach is a nice addition, and the music creates a lot more suspense for the fights.

Only thing is though the ratings for the first episode were under 1mil viewers which is pretty poor, so maybe Bellator are flogging a dead horse with this series.

I watched both episodes last night. I actually like the format so far. Having 4 coaches is very interesting and having the fighters pick a coach i think is good as well.
It's great when a fighter can gauge whether a coach actually wants him on the team. I find it interesting enough for now to keep watching it. As a matter of fact, I find it more interesting so far than any of the TUF season for the last 4 years.

I think the general consensus among MMA fans is that these reality shows have run their course and just aren't interesting any more. The drama seems manufactured, the title seems meaningless, and the level of fighting is so much lower than it is at the top of the game.

Ratings will continue to fall domestically until they stop saturating us with content.

TUF: Jones vs. Sonnen was a tremendous season and ought to have been the series finale. It was well produced, well coached, and it featured some solid talent. That and the focus was less on cheesy dramatics and more on the fighters themselves - skills, abilities, training, and fighting. It had a raw, documentary type feel to it, which was refreshing.

Now, we have TUF: Rousey vs. Tate, which I fear is going to end up like Big Brother - which I've never watched and never will for obvious reasons. The UFC had a good thing going with TUF 17, but it doesn't seem to know when to call it quits with this reality show. I would rather it have ended on a high note.

I've not watched Fight Master as our area recently lost Spike. Though I've been thinking about downloading/streaming them just to get a taste of what Bellator's version of reality television is like.

TUF is the best way to introduce new talent. So its not just about how high of the rating we can get. They basically use that show to bring in new talent. I dont think it should ever go away. And the Bellator show is just the VOICE meets MMA. I will watch cause im a MMA fan and I will watch anthing they put on free TV MMA related.

I like the fights and the drama. But I also like Jersey shore and Teen MOM for some reason my GF got me hooked on that shit. I did think in season 9 or 10 when they pissed in the fruit that was pretty funny. Also the upper decker was funny as well. So I think its good to have a mix of focus on training and fighting and on the silly fun stuff also.

I like it but it seems sort of staged...

I mean, you'd think all the fighters would instantly pick Jackson's camp. So far nobody has been rejected or anything like that, but I guess that's what good editing can do?

I do enjoy hearing them talk while watching the fighters though. Gives some great insight to what real coaches see during the fights.

Nah Shamrock and Randy are legends. Shamrock was the first complete mma fighter and Randy is the most decorated champ in MMA history. Plenty of reasons to choose those guys.

Still to early to tell, the fight in episodes on TUF are the only good episodes on that show, we are still in fight in mode here plus the added reality element of picking a coach. The whole "fight house" business has me skeptical.

The first episode I was shocked that everyone didn't pick Jackson as their coach. But after thinking about it, I don't think I would have picked Jackson either.

I think if I were given the opportunity to be trained by one of those four, I'd either choose Shamrock or Warren. Shamrock, because he was a well rounded MMA fighter and Warren because he is a current generation fighter.

I think Couture is too wrestling orientated and his stand up was terrible, even though he put Tim Sylvia on his butt, lol.

I still haven't forgiven Jackson for greasing down GSP with vaseline and besides, what does he bring as head coach? A game plan and that's it, imo. I believe the real coaches in his camp are Winklejohn and Gibson.

Have to say, really enjoying Fight Master still. Such a better production then TUF. The lighting for the fights alone makes a huge difference, its seems more intense and more serious, way more polished. A much more professional rivalry between the coaches - a coaching rivalry as opposed to a we are gona fight later one. Looking forward to it each week now.
Joe Riggs fought on the last episode, and man did he put on a clinic of MMA, and after cutting 30 pounds to make weight. If he can keep his head straight I can see him as bellator champ and back in the ufc in a few years.
