I almost wonder why they are translating Perosh's post fight interview. I bet the crowd wants nothing to do with him right now, haha.
Vinny has such a weak chin. He can't take punishment at all. It makes you realize just how much power Davis lacks in his punches. Of course Davis probably wasn't trying to commit to much because of the chance he could get taken down, but still..
Phew wanted to place a bet on Vinny yesterday. Then thought about the fight and felt that Perosh should be able to neutralise Vinny on the ground and considering how bad Vinny is standing, decided that Vinny isn't worth betting on.
Wow, could Vinny be in danger of getting cut? I have to say for such a highly touted prospect who also seems to have a conceited demeanor, he certainly never looks impressive. He often manages to look bad. lol
I don't know how highly touted he was. I mean personally I always root for him, but I never thought he would get close to the title or anything. Dude was already cut from the UFC before coming back for this stint.
I almost think you don't have to hit cleanly against Vinny. I know Bader hits like a truck so it may be a bad example, but he hit Vinny with a half deflected punch and Vinny folded like a bad hand.
Unfortunately for him, all of his flaws in MMA can't just be fixed in training. He could learn better defense, but that's about it.
Actually nearly all of flaws can be corrected in training. A lot of guys have shitty chins, it's MMA. A real fighter doesn't get caught on the button by a slow bum like Perosh.
He's a great athlete, he's big and strong and flexible. He's just awful and has terrible fight instincts, I'm amazed that someone as inept as him could've even been a world class BJJ practitioner.
That's why I said he could work on his defense, but he will never be able to improve his weak chin or his heart. Some guys can get by with a lack of striking defense, he clearly isn't one of them.
I agree that a real fighter doesn't get caught by a guy like Perosh, but that's just it. He isn't a real fighter. He's a BJJ guy who can't take a punch and doesn't like getting hit in general. How he folded against Bader was all the evidence we needed. He has a lot of physical tools like you mentioned, but he just doesn't have a fighters mentality. A real fighter doesn't get hit with one good punch, and then give up mentally.
My memory might be fuzzy, but I don't think the first (half deflected) punch Bader landed put him out. He kind of just fell down and cashed in before the follow up, but Bader put his lights out once he was down.
It's too bad really because like you said, he has a lot of good physical tools. I guess we can put him in the "waste of potential" bin.
It could be my bad connection, but Juniors punch looked cleaner to me while Vinny looked like he was barely hit. I keep watching the second view and it looks like it nearly misses. You don't get a great view on Junior's punch, but it does look like a cleaner hit in my opinion.
Vinny has always seemed like one of those people who is convinced that he is the shit, regardless of how well he actually does. Getting KO'ed by Perosh was probably a pretty rough ego check for him.
