despite all this randy couture jibber jabber
how come the legend Dan the Beast Severn isnt fighting in the ufc?His last mma bout which he won was on 6/9/2007
He fought pretty regularly this year up until his recent win
im just wondering why he isnt signed?
he has over 70 wins
and hes a legend
hopefully its not money.
could it be hes not a big draw to the new mainstream crowd?
does anyone know why he isnt signed?

That guy must take speed or something, he's fought seven times this year already, and he's 49 years old! And he's 79-14-7 by now... :eek03:

I haven't seen him fight since he was in the UFC, but I doubt he's that good anymore, at that age and all, or we would have heard more about him lately.

i'd agree to that. im sure if he were worth a UFC contract there'd be a little more media spotlight on him.

yeah but alot of the old dogs dont have a mainstream following
its like john fitch
if your a hardcore fan you knew about him a while ago
but most people are just now finding out about him
alot of the people dont pay attention to the dark days
but it would be cool to have in there

Because Dan Severn's old as shit, and he hand-picks his opponents. Not to mention that he's stuck in 1995.

I like Dan Severn and his glorious 'stache, but dude would get clobbered by the lowest-tier UFC fighter. I mean, didn't dude lose to freakin' Jonathan Wiezorek of all people?

I'm pretty sure Severn is happy fighting in these little no name organizations where the talent isn't as experienced as a fighter in the UFC. He knows he can keep winning where he is now. Lets look at who he has went up against in his last 10 fights...

Victor Vincelette 1 - 3 - 0
Terrell Pree 0 - 1 - 0
Jason Keith 1 - 2 - 0
Kasey Geyer 0 - 1 - 0
Clifford **** 0 - 1 - 0
Dave Legeno 4 - 3 - 0 (lost)
Wade Hamilton 9 - 11 - 0
Chris Clark 4 - 18 - 0
Brian Heden 1 - 3 - 0
Skip Hall 2 - 4 - 0

Now lets skip a few and see the last few people he lost to

Joop Kasteel 15-6-0
Victor Valimaki 9-5-0
James Thompson 14-7-0
Tony Bonello 14 - 0 - 0
Ulysses Castro 7 - 4 - 0
Seth Petruzelli 7 - 4 - 0

Wow, when he fights someone that has at least a little bit of experience or at least a positive record (more wins than loses) he seems to lose, hmmmm

funny

never said that it would be a good fight but it would be a marketable fight.

hell if people will sit through a half an hour shamrock vs gracie fight they might be able to sit rhrough this.

haha no worries i know where you are coming from and i agree to a certain point, but in todays world of mma i can guarantee most casual fans have no damn clue who Severn is nor would they wanna see someone who was schooled by Ortiz *shrugs* thats just me though from a marketing stand point it would be a bust

yha but thats why it would be market able all dana would have to say was 2 hall of famers and tell them dan's record and some of the casual fans would light up. then they would have uc unleased of their past fights. I would watch that I loved watching the old ken shamrock and dan severn.

I was gonna mention that, the dude either fights people who haven't foughten before or people with losing records now. Which isn't so bad, he knows hes old and to one dimensional to fight real contenders these days. He probably doesn't wanna completely give up MMA so he fights for fun now instead of trying to be a top dog.

Yea thats true he probably just loves fighting and does it against guys more on his level. Thats respectable and I have no problem with guys competing past their prime if they still enjoy it. Do it as long as you can because you never know when you will actually be "too old"
