Appearently it comes out in 2008 andis entitled "made in america" and is sa tribute to Matt Hughes. By Matt Hughes.
http://mmamania.com/2007/12/07/matt...champion-in-ufc-history-set-for-2008-release/

“If you know anything at all about mixed martial arts and the UFC, then you know the name Matt Hughes. With devastating slams and ground-and-pound — and nine championship belts to his credit — Matt is the most dominant fighter in UFC history…. Matt discloses his most private thoughts and feelings during both his epic victories and his crushing losses. But when the gloves come off, there’s Matt Hughes the man. He talks with unflinching honesty about his early hell-raising and his near-death experience, the moment he let God into his heart, falling in love with his wife, the birth of his daughter, and all the important events of his life — and he shares personal photographs never before seen by the public. A Christian, a family man, and a fighter, Matt Hughes could only have been made in America.”

GOD, that's so touching and humble...

I don't really know what to think but good for him. It'd be much nicer of he had someone interview him and make the biography because even I could make myself look like a glorious saint. But hell, seriously, good for him. :)

There's a ton of fighters that I wouldn't mind reading a book on. Web-site profiles and articles can only dig in so much. Seeing how a mind was slowly formed and at what point they decided their career would invlove fighting is f*cking.... spectacular.

Like I'd love to read a book about Karo, GSP, or the Nog bros. Gotta give Hughes a break, he might start an innovative trend no matter how gay and corny it seems right now. Plus, he could've been raped in the bum by his priest in the begininning of the book for all we know, so chillax.

Nothing like referring to yourself as "the most dominant fighter in history" to show people you aren't an ego maniac. *sigh* I'm a Christian and I practice MMA too! Maybe I should write a book about what a saint I am.

I think I'll just wait till the movie comes out.

the title should be "Matt Hughes, The Most Fuckin' Arogant ******* of All Time"
ain't hating matt, but he is the cockiest motherfucker out there. he thinks his shit smells like roses and i can't wait for rush to knock his head off again so i can win me some more money!

That last line every keeps quoting is a bit ridiculous...but what's wrong with saying he's the most dominant champ in UFC history? There's nothing wrong with saying that, it's completely true. What did you want him to say "I'm a great fighter but my standup isn't that great". He's trying to sell books.

Also, he says he is writing it, but you all know damn well that when it gets to the publishers, some shit's gonna change. The publishers are the ones who are gonna add things like "most dominant champ in MMA history", and things like that, to sell the book.

I'll probably be getting this book, it looks interesting. Perhaps it will start a trend and more fighters will begin writing books as well. :thumb02:

Sorry if I missed something, but where does it say that Hughes was the one who wrote that quote??? You sure it's not from the inside cover or the back cover? Those are usually written by someone else...and Hughes doesn't seem the type to talk about himself in the 3rd person...

I may be veering dangerously off topic but plenty of celebs have been criticised for releasing autobiographies in the UK.

Jordan, Victoria Beckham, Chantelle Houghton???? and every decent England footballer.

Its like a right of celeb passage in Britain and the biographies sell rather well.

I think its because the market is flooded, not everyone gets a hard time. Occasionally people get praised for it, if they have something interesting to say, which I think Matt will.

I mean those three examples I used were straight off the top of my head have you heard of two of them? would u like to hear what they say?

When is this book coming out cos he should wait to he retires, so he can burn bridges.

thats just how it is when you are in the public eye.
i guess your right and its not fair.
but thats how it is , hughes can deal with it and so can we.
maybe his publisher ought to try a different marketing approach. matts personality is just hard to sell(apparently)

LOL same here man it's kinda wierd. But most people I talk to about MMA outside of the internet don't really know all that much about MMA and the other fighters, which is why I get on the internet everyday :thumb02:

I understand and all, it's just getting redundant.

I find it funny how people are like, "OMG HUGHES MENTIONED GOD!!!! HE'S FORCING CHRISTIANITY ON US!!!111" Seriously, guys, he's proud to be a Christian and he has the right to be one, so why all the hate?

Matt Hughes is awesome and one of the greatest fighters the sport has ever seen.

I personally have no problem with him being christian, patriotic and American (even though most swedes are pretty anti-american). I'm also a fan of "the never say die" attitude Hughes showed against Trigg. I DO disagree with Hughes opinions, his philosophy, etc. but I do not hate him. He is indeed one of the greatest of all time.

But seing that cover togeather with the back text sorta made me want to throw up...

Whatever my opinion of Matt Hughes, I wouldn't consider this book a true reflection of him b/c I guaran-f*ckin-tee it's as told to someone with a lot of nonfiction writing experience. He prolly talked into a tape recorder for hours upon hours and the writer overhauled it and polished it up all nice and shiny.

Eggheads - the power behind the throne of UFC.

I personally think Mat's definitely got a right to sell his story but.....
....could only have been made in America.
....is a bit of a joke. I understand that it's gearing up to appeal to the patriots in the US but if you come from another country (which there are lots of us) it just looks conceited.
....What did you want him to say "I'm a great fighter but my standup isn't that great".
 Good stuff!

WL2FU while I admit I don't like Hughes, I do agree that it gets very tedious when people look past the truth & focus on minor details just to bad mouth someone. Unfortunately it's just what happens when people are in the public eye. People have nothing better to do with their lives really, hence the crazy sales of celeb magazines. The celebs over here that get slated are one's that are usually b-rated celebs or sometimes pushing z-rated status. There are celebs that are 19 (barely out the womb with regards biographies) and telling their 'life story'.

I'm surprised (and kind of embarrassed for you ) that you actually knew her 2nd name.

The guy could cure cancer and still be hated by all of you. It seems it is the in thing to hate the guy. Can he be abrassive? Sure but the thing that kills me about you all is that you act as if you are the saints. Youa all are the ones casting stones. You all are a bunch of followers who only form your opinion by what others say. To me you are soft for letting someone effect you so deeply. It is OK to dislike someone but yall are rediculous.
He is the most dominant champion of all times. He is an awesome person away from this sport. He has done and will probably do more to help people in need than you ever will. If I were to accomplish half of what this guy has then I would be very proud of the man I have grwon to be.

Unbelievable. Sounds like Matt Hughes. Man, he could have at least hired a guy to write a second-hand autobiography. It could have been his brother for God's sakes. At least pretend someone else is paying tribute to him. He makes himself look even more self-righteous and arrogant among other big words. I think he could deserve a tribute by someone else, but come on man.

Honestly, I never heard of Paris Hilton writing anything, but I'd be pretty disgusted at the fact that she'd make money off of it. I don't really keep up with much in the biographical realm, and I'd never know about Hughes' book unless it was posted on here. Maybe that's me being ignorant to other instances, but if the original post is accurate, I'd be pretty annoyed by the whole thing. I will be researching this more before I judge too much. WL2FU, good job leading Hughes' side of the debate. You present some great points and even though my perception of Hughes is quite the opposite, I appreciate the intelligent posts.
