Seriously...pride needs to expose itself ...we'll see hwo things go with the real deal. and i do agree Pride is leaning towards the money side then the fame....
Endorsements are your money making machine in the US. Hell look at Jordan his yearly wage got destroyed all the time by one single Nike deal.
For you lesser known fighters, yeah i really think they have to provide much more of a incentive to get into the sport. You have to make entering the UFC a very viable option.
Your guys at the top are doing nothing but training. Your guys at the bottom are working 9 to 5's and training on weekends. Then everyone wonders why no one can knock off the belt holders.
As far as fame in the USA goes, I'd agree since UFC owns the market here. But worldwide, I'd Pride gets more respect. Hopefully Pride will build its brand here in the USA more so once we do get a fight like Wand vs Chuck, it'll really be huge.
Pride may not even exist before too long. They are reaching out to the American market because the Japanese market is drying up due to scandals. They just lost a huge television contract in Japan.
I think that MMA fighters are more famous to the general public in Japan than they are in the US. For instance, if you ask a 100 Americans who Ken Shamrock is about 5 probably know, if you ask 100 Japanese who Bob Sapp is and they all know.
