As much as I like Fedor I really hope Sylvia pulls this one off. Mainly because if there was any fighter that gets constantly shit on its Tim Sylvia. How many times have you heard people screaming he sucks, he's boring, he shit his pants, he got beat by 44 year old guy, why does he wear that f'ing belt all the time? STFU already. If TIm can pull off a win against Fedor I think he'll get the respect that he deserves (at least I'm hoping).

The big appeal to Fedor to a lot of people, including myself, is that he's the embodiment of a living legend. We wander around in a society riddled with myths of great heroes or warriors, and finally, we have concrete proof that a real one, indeed, lives among us.

I'm not talking about legends like "Big Foot", I'm talking about heroes people can look up to because they defied our expectations and set new standards for what our lives can be.

People naturally hate success, but I don't see how anyone can desire Fedor's legacy to end when he's nothing but class, skill and mystery. :dunno:

On that note, I have nothing against Tim Sylvia. If anyone remembers, I started a Tim Sylvia love and appreciation thread about six months ago, only to receive ample negative rep and "poopy pants" comments, alongside some agreed support.

Okay, i guess i was a little out of line saying that. and i suppose your right to an extent.....generations to come will deny fedor's very existence lol
lol, it's all good man. I just think it would be kind of cool if Fedor beat every top 10 of his generation and retired undefeated. I mean, people idolize Ali, but even he was beaten, I think his legacy would have been even bigger if he had retired undefeated. :dunno:

There's so little fantasy left in this world, I think it would be refreshing to have more athletes and icons that defy the odds.

i got nothin against big tim, and i'll be happy for him if he wins. i'm just happy that fedor will be facing an opponent who cannot be considered a can. tim actually has a chance of beating fedor if he executes a gameplan that keeps the fight standing. i've been complaining about fedor's choice of opponents for some time now, and i believe that this match up is a legitimate answer to those complaints.

There is a living legend that everyone can look up to and lives among us...his name is Chuck Norris :praise01:

But seriously, I'm rooting for Big Tim.

Pfft.. Chuck Norris is over-rated.

what about anderson silva?....and fedor isn't undefeted, he has one lose, and the only reason he doesn't have more loses is becuase he doesn't fight many good fighters, just a bunch of cans.

I'll be rooting for big timmy
Anderson Silva at this point in his career is phenom, but if you're going to point out a would be "No Contest"-loss for Fedor, then I'm going to point out Anderson was submitted twice by relatively lackluster competition (Chonan and Takase).

Im rooting for big Tim sorry frdor>all I just really want timmy to win this he has been looked down at allot in the mma world and being able to beat fedor would make everyone realize he aint no joke
It's all good M_D. I like Tim Sylvia, and I personally don't consider him a joke. The fans that do, really should find out what a real joke is, ie: Bo Cantrell.

I'll root for Tim, he gets no love and I'm sure that not many people give him a chance in this fight. I personally think that Timmy has a great chance of being the first to stop Fedor.

At the same time I would hate to see Fedor lose in his first legitimate test in years because then the haters will discredit his whole legacy. Fedor is am enigma, I would hate to see the mystery unravled.

I know about their loses, dogg...I'm just saying, you can't say fedors undefeted, becuase he isn't, he has that 1 in the loss column, no matter how it happen....I don't even think fedor should be mention in the same sentence as anderson silva...Fedor has never really impressed me, and he hasn't fought anyone worth a shit in a good while...where as anderson has recently destroyed a guy that seemed unstoppable till he showed up, not once but twice in rich franklin...Ko'ed a guy that is nearly un-KO-able in seconds in chris leben...tapped travis lutter and dan henderson, and destroyed nate marqu., and he's never left the 2nd round, against that type of comp., that is crazy....what has fedor done lately??, nothing, I just get frustrated with all the hype around him, and I haven't seen it....I really think tim will keep it standing, and pick him apart...I really can't wait to see how fedor does, and if he beats tim, he'll have my respect.

As of right now I'm picking Sylvia to win this fight. First of all it's been a long time since Fedor has had a real fight, secondly Fedor at one time even said he didn't want to fight Tim because Tim's style of fighting wasn't a good matchup for him. Fedor knows Tim can pose problems for him, so I hope he comes in ready.

I saw Sportsnet cover this in their mini-feed this morning. It read; 'Tim Sylvia will be fighting Russian mixed martial artist champion, Fedor Emeleianenko on July 19th in Dallas...'

Mixed martial artist champion? Idiocy.

To the topic at hand, yes I will be rooting for Tim Syliva. I like Tim alittle more than Fedor but do not in anyway disrespect anything Fedor has accomplished.

What's Fedor gonna do to Sylvia once it hits the ground. Ground and pound his face and send a message to UFC or submit him right away?

I think once Fedor beats Sylvia, people will still find a way to bash him by saying like "Ohhh Sylvia should retire, sucks now, lost two in a row blah blah blah"

I'm going to be rooting for Sylvia in this fight. Anyone that has been on here for any amount of time, know that I feel Tim gets the shaft with the fans and I hope that this is the turning point for him to get things back in order.

With that said, I really believe that we are just wasting space with this thread because I don't think this fight is going to make it reality. I just have this bad feeling that for some reason, it's going to fall through and we are all going to be disappointed. :(

I want Sylvia to win but I really don't believe he will. However, I do hopes that he trains like a mad man for this fight (if it does happen) and fights like the way he used to, aggressive and looking to knockout his opponent. I want to see the bad ass Tim Sylvia who wanted to continue fighting even after a broken arm.

I have nothing against Fedor (except the fact he beat my boy Cro Cop) but I'll be rooting for Big timmy. He's like the little orphan boy that nobody wants. He's actually a nice guy, and, up until recently, he was a thoroughly entertaining fighter.

A string of boring Wins! and the fact that he looks like the retard from the Goonies doesn't make him a bad guy or fighter. I've got him on sheer underdog/sympathy power right now.

I really like Tim Sylvia but I definitely like Fedor a lot more.

I understand Tim Sylvia is really not a very appealing fighter but I don't think that's why I should be rooting for him. :/

HAHA, I'm not saying that I'm rooting for Timmy because he's not appealing. If it came across that way...My bad.

I was saying that I'm rooting for him because he's the underdog and always gets counted out. I also remember his old whoop ass days and want him to come back to form.
