One of the most expected bouts of UFC 89, Lyoto Machida and Thiago Silva would face each other in October, in a fight that would force one of them to know how a loss tastes for the first time. After Thiago’s injury, that forced the disappointing cancellation of the bout. After many rumors, some secure sources informed TATAME.com that this fight will still happen, and it’s set to happen at UFC 93, in January 31st, in MGM Grand Arena, Las Vegas. Stay tuned on TATAME.com for more news about UFC.

Sucks about the delay but I am very glad they are still going to fight. I love seeing two really good fighters that are unbeaten going at it. It's always interesting to see how the one fighter takes their first loss. I think it will be a great fight but I gots Machida in this one.

That happened against Tomaz Drawl in a fight that had so many punches anyone would gas.

I doubt this fight will have that many punches I think the focus will be on Thiago coming foward trying to get Lyoto to the ground.

I predict Lyoto going down after a vicious kick.

If it goes to the ground it will be to thiago's advantage. I don't see Thiago outright taking Machida down tho. It's going to be a strike that takes it to the ground.

i got lyoto via total schooling....he outclasses thiago standing, has the wrestling to keep it standing if he pleases, and has the bjj to handle thiago if thats where he wants it...thiago's looked pretty amazing on the ground, but look who he's been fighting...houston, mendes....? not exactly cream of the bjj crop

i just think thiago silva is waiting to get exposed by a top fighter....he's cool cuz he's a bjj guy in a predominantly striker-based division, but lyoto isn't the best matchup for him....rashad (who he was supposed to fight @ ufc 84), wanderlei, rampage, would all be better opponents for him

thiago could beat some top 10 LHW's...just not this one...

Damnit! What horrible news. I see nothing bad bad things for Thiago in this fight. I was hoping they'd give Lyoto another opponent quickly so Thiago wouldn't have to do this. I think he matches up perfectly to be beaten by Lyoto's style.

I echo many other posters... Too bad we have to wait so long.

BUT, I still think Machida will school Silva.

This is a rough way to introduce Thiago to fighting contenders IMO. The guy has looked really good against a bunch of guys that aren't that great... At all.

However Machida has already dealt with fighters like Franklin, Sokky, Ortiz, Penn...

I'm not completely sold on Thiago. I need to see how he does against some top guys. Seeing him lose against Machida won't tell me much as all of Machida's opponents in the UFC have looked like ass against him.

Shit. I was hoping these two wouldn't fight after Thiago pulled out, these guys are two of my favorite fighters makes me a sad panda to watch them fight.

I still got Machida, Thiago's stand up is good but there appears to be a lot of holes in it I believe Machida will easily expose.

While it really sucks that Lyoto will be sidelined for this long at least he isnt having to fight a bum. I guess I would rather wait for a good fight than accept one that wont do anything for the career as well.

Thiago really hasnt impressed me very much. I have seen some of his performances and I am just not that impressed. Aside from Rashad Evans, He has the shackiest Undefeated record that I have ever seen. A fight is a fight and I know anything can happen, But I think Machida is a much better fighter. Thiago has looked shacky on his feet and no way he is beating Machida on the ground. I just dont see Thiago winning this one. It will be interesting to watch though.....

So glad we are still gonna see this fight!! I was gutted when I heard that it had been taken off the 89 card in England. Im going and was really looking forward to seeing it.

I think Machida takes it by 2nd or 3rd rnd stoppage. I think he will have to much for Thiago to deal with.
