Who does the UFC Heavyweight Champion, Tim Sylvia, need to beat in order for all of you haters to give him his props? It is obvious that Tim's KO of AA in part II and then the snorefest decision in part III mean nothing to you and neither does Tim's latest victory when he out BJJ'd a brown belt in BJJ, virtually putting on an MMA clinic with controlled striking, sound sprawling, and excellent wrestling. If Alexander Emelienenko comes over from Pride and Tim beats him down, is he now one of the best in the world? I know that if Vera is his next opponent then most of you will say that Vera sucks and it doesn't count if Tim beats him up.

On a side note if you could answer this question: If you are one of the 20 best in the world at your sport, are you "One of the best in the world"?

It's pretty safe to say that me, personally, will give Tim Sylvia when he beats any one of the 5 HW's ranked higher than him.

I will call him an official, GREAT fighter if he could beat Fedor, instead of talking about wanting to fight him and then never actually doing it.
So in order for Tim to be considered a great fighter he has to beat the best fighter of all-time? Give me a break, Tims could be considered a great fighter now. I guarantee if he looked cooler he;d be considered better. I know he's had 2 extremly boring fights in a row and I fault him for that but he deserves more respect than he gets.

ok were all pretty sure its gonna be vera vs. monson

1)jardine vs. forrests vs

2))mir vs monson
3)alex vs. loser of vera vs. silva
winner of 1 should fight winner of two
winner of that fight vs. winner of 3
winner of 3 gets shot

The problem with Sylvia is not who he fights, but HOW he fights! His fights, expecially his recent ones, have been extremely boring. He seems more inclined to 'try avoid losing' instead of 'trying to win' and that results in boring matches, to the point Big John had to actually tell him to 'fight' in a FIGHT! Whats more is he is so huge, he could easily make interesting fights just by actually going out and DOING SOMETHING.

In my opinion it has less to do with who Tim Sylvia fights then how he fights. If Tim laid waste to every single one of the jokers that he stepped into the rings with then he would get some respect. He was good during his first title rune, but he hasn't been able to finish his last two fights, and both of his opponents displayed some of the worst fighting of their careers.

I think that I might not have as big a problem with the guy if he showed even the hint of a ground game, but lets face it, that will never happen. We saw how quick Andrei was able to submit him with a standard anklelock, Tim didn't even know how to respond.

Basically, there are four things Tim Sylvia has to do if I am really going to regard him as a legitimate champion:

1) Beat one of the top ranked guys in Pride:
a) Fedor (year, right)
b) Crocop (no way in hell)
c) Barnett (if AA could get a quick toe hold, imagine this finish)
d) Mark Hunt (this could be a long fight for Tim Sylvia)
e) Big Nog (I don't think so)

2) Display a fantastic finish with solid punching power (I realize that there were points when he could do this, but he hasn't been able to do it lately, so I can't even give him that credit as a boxer anymore)

3) Show some vague hint of a ground game. (You know, not get tapped out like a little b*tch by basic ***** moves)

4) Stop acting all high and mighty, especially when talking about a guy like Fedor. If he really thinks he has a chance in hell at Fedor then do what Chuck did when he got called out. Go over to PRIDE and back it up! Well, we all saw what happened to Chuck, but you know what I'm saying.

I've not yet seen UFC 65 due to complications with my satellite, but I heard Sylvia was pulling out a few submission attempts against Monson, probably the top ranked heavyweight submission grappler in the world. That was really surprising to me when I read about it..I just can't picture Sylvia going for a triangle, lol.
