He gave up in like the 9th round or something, threw in the towel. So 9/10 boxing goes to a decision and when there is about to be an actual knockout, they throw in the towel between rounds. LuL

I forgot how much boxing fails and how boring it is, tonight reminded me why the sport is dieing.

Wow you really are a sad MMA fan. That was an absolutely amazing fight for Pac man. Oscar is a good fighter (past prime even) and gave mayweather Jr some trouble. Pac man is pure heart, fire and high level skill. Oscar has never quit before. He was not supposed to even lose this. He got dominated and was humbled into quitting. The under card fights were exciting with a lot of knockouts. This was a great night for boxing. Too bad there are fan boys like you that just cant APPRECIATE good fighting regardless of style.

First id like to say AWESOME post. However, I do hope you realize that there are also many sad boxing fans who wont open up to MMA, they like to diss it b4 understanding all apects.

I didnt get to see last nights fight but from what I have read it was a fantastic performance from Pacman against an over the hill De La Hoya?

I know what you mean; RJJ was my/is my fav of all time. In his prime he was pure art. I wish he retired years ago. I wanted either DLH to win or have Pac man win like he did and bring some excitement to the sport. I think he has a good chance of enticing mayweather JR out of retirement. There is no way Oscar aged THAT fast from 2007 to 2008 and Pac Man just boxed beautifully. The way he threw his str8 left lead is reminiscent of a straight right lead by mayweather. I agreed taht Pac should probably not stay 147 as I see Cotto, Paul Williams or Margarito giving him major problems..but then again after this fight I will never doubt Pac out of any fight.

It was a good fight, not great. I think in order to have a great fight, you need two fighters going back and forth. This was simply a whooping. Hopefully De la Hoya gets the message. It reminds me of Ali vs Holmes. It's just sad to watch once great fighters get to slow to pull the trigger. Watching guys like Ali, Jones Jr, Trinidad, or De la hoya who think they are the same guy they used to be isn't a lot of fans for those of us who are their fan.

Pacman will destroy Ricky Hatton, and if Floyd ever wants a real fight he'll beat him too.

I don't know about that, Hatton looked really good in his last fight and no-ones ever looked like they were gonna beat him at 140.

Pacman would definitely be a favourite and I'd pick him to win but I don't think there's anyone in the world that would "destroy" Hatton at light-welter TBH.

DLH looked awful IMO and it seemed as though he'd really made some mistakes with the weight but Manny looked awesome last night, you could really tell you were watching the best boxer in the world cos he made Oscar look like a complete amatuer over the hill or not.

Whatever the outcome Manny - Hatton is a definite FOTY favourite for when they put it together IMO.

Boxing makes me appreciate MMA even more

I got so used to watching MMA fight, I kept thinking of perfect opportunities to throw in some elbows and knees.

It was a great fight, I was at odds on the fact that Oscar threw in the towel. I hate for any fighter to have to do that. He did see the inevitable though, Paquiao to keep pressing for a possible knockout. Unlike in MMA whereas you might loose the standup so you just shoot in with the intend of a ground and pound or a lock.

Paquiao is the man!!!!:thumb02:

That's the problem with DLH being the top man there, that fight should have been over at the end of the 6th and you could tell by the end of the 7th that he didn't have anything left.

Someone would have stopped it earlier if Oscar wasn't the boss, if he'd carried on any longer he could have really got hurt IMO.

Boxing is awesome. MMA fans need to get their heads out of their asses and realize that MMA and boxing are 2 different combat sports. I watch me some Bas Rutten, Frank Shamrock, Pernell Whitaker, Salvador Sanchez, Roberto Duran and Rumina Sato.

I don't know why people are so happy to see such a great sport die (Not saying it's dying or anything).

The only decline with boxing is in mainstream coverage with in the US, something the UFC gets more of with the casual fan/guys who buy tapout shirts. Boxing is still globally superior than mma, especially in places like Mexico, the UK, etc.

Not enough young up and coming stars, which is why Oscar (who hasn't beaten a top ranked fighter since Vargas) is still their best draw. It's time for a new generation to cary on...... with Bernard Hopkins:thumb02:

Manny/Ricky Hatton will be huge, and will kill anything the UFC puts out this year
