How many of you have been to a small show? If you haven't been to one I'd recommend it. If you've been to one, have also you been to a big promotion like UFC, and if so, how do they compare?

My wife surprised me by taking me to Total Combat 20 in San Diego. We saw 7 fights, 5 HW and 2 LW. A lot of the HW guys were out of shape to some extent, but the LW fights were impressive as hell.

I'm sure it's not anything like going to a UFC fight, but the energy in the crowd is pretty amazing. Most of the people standing around our seats were there to support a fighter from their gym. There were no boos when the fight went to the ground. People were screaming out "arm bar," "kimura," or "PASS," as appropriate to the situation on the ground. There were 4-6 big-show fighter in the audience including Brandon Vera, who I saw, and Eddie Sanchez. Vera cornered for one of the LW guys.

Small shows rock!! I fight in a pretty small show(12 fights or so) and a lot of the spectators are people who train with the guys fighting or are family. It makes for a pretty sweet atmosphere for sure.
