How to get started

Hey everyone, first time posting so bare with me here. Now say one has been training on his own for a certain amount of time and wants to start getting into fighting in amateur mma. Where or how do u go about it?

I've trainined in boxing, thai style kickboxing,currently in bjj and mma training.

My suggestion would be to talk to some of the guys where you train, and see who is already competing. They should be able to tell you how to get involved in local competitions.

Aren't you near Renzo Gracie or Matt Serra's camp? Train at their gyms and talk to some of the guys there. They can more than likely help you out.

I'm kind of in the same boat too, I live in ottawa ,ontario ,canada . Anyone know of gyms in surrounding areas that have people who've competed in mma fights? if anyone knows it would be much appreciated

No, Syracuse is pretty far from Serra's. Syracuse is far north.

You can find fight events online in your area at MMA FIGHT GUIDE Sometimes with the listings they advertise that they need fighters for the events. Try that.
