How long to train b4 going amateur?

So the title pretty much says it. How long should someone train for before they attempt to start fighting in amateur bouts?

Probably 5 years of hard core atleast, and you wouldnt be the best..

Because so many people have been doing like bjj or kick boxing and stuff for their whole lives.

Oh you can start tomorrow if you lie well enough, but that doesn't mean you'll start winning.

There is no magical amount of time that it takes. Some guys train their entire lives and still take a few years of intense training before winning bouts, while others just have it naturally. Get yourself to a good gym and gauge your ability, you'll know when you are ready and so will those around you.

I waited a whole 6 weeks after I started training jiu Jitsu and kickboxing to get inside the cage. The experience you gain from fighting in a cage cant be duplicated in a dojo.
