Couple o' questions...
Newbie to the sport, but very interested in it.
I have my first training class tomorrow night for MMA 101 (Muay Tai, BJJ, Greco-Roman, and all that other good stuff combined.)
Question 1: What should I expect at said first class?
Question 2: Any suggestions as to what to wear, and take with me?
Question 3: How long does one usually train before actual full contact fights?
Thanks in advance.

1. fun
2. wraps/gloves/shorts/shirt/energy drink/water
3. When you actually win against people a higher belt then you in BJJ, and you do good in sparring whether its boxing or thai kickboxing. And your coach/professor/whatever thinks you are ready

Thanks for replying. I did have a lot of fun, the time went by quick. We "rolled" and I learned a lot Jujitsu moves and such.
Equipment they sale is expensive,
(Combat brand) Muay Thai Boxing gloves: $65
(Combat) Shin guards: $50
(Combat) MMA Practice Gloves: $55
(Revenge) Hand Wraps $5/pr
Are these reasonable prices?
Anyway, thanks again. I don't think I'm gonna try to fight any time soon.

Look online. Try MMA Warehouse. I don't think you really need all that stuff until you're really serious, does the school have spares for when you're there?

Yeah I've done a search near and far, but didn't know what I'd need. My trainer said, I did definitely need the Boxing gloves, Shin Guards, and Hand wraps ASAP.
They spar Mondays & Wednesday @ 6:30 (for the experienced), then 7:30 starts the MMA 101 class, light hitting and rolling.
Spartan Fitness is where I'm training...first school that I found that taught more than 1 day a week, for a great price and a discounted gym membership.

LOL, Yeah Spartan Fitness of Birmingham, AL. training under Chris Connely...I don't know too much about them, but they seem pretty legit.
Didn't quite follow you when you said this:

I mean, don't go spending 30 bucks on something from Walmart. Spend your money on something quality, even if it will cost 30 or 40 more bucks.

Cool, gotcha'...thanks for the advice. Do you happen to know if "Top Contender" gear is worthless or decent?

I mean those prices are AROUND the price my gym charges for stuff...I just buy most of my stuff threw my gym since they are the ones training me and the gear is good as well.
