Question?

Hi How you doing im new here i dont know if this the right place to post this but whatever.I am wanting to learn mma there is a place near me that teaches muay thai and jiu-jitsu.My question is when i get into stance im like a southpaw but my right hand is stronger than my left. Does that matter?I heard the hand that is behind the other is your strong hand.Is this ok?

First off welcome.

Second, what are you defining as your "strong hand"? To you,is that the one your better with or the one that you hit harder with?

Then generally you are going to want to fight out of an orthodox stance. Which stance feels more comfortable, southpaw or orthodox?

I would reccommend trying to learn to fight out of orthodox espicially since your dominant hand is your right one and because southpaw is real tricky to learn and to deal with.

Punches come at different angles then they would coming out of an orthodox stance and blocking punches is harder because of this. Plus, since there are more orthodox fighters then southpaw fighters it is harder to find guys to train with to get used to it. Even if you fight southpaw and the guy you are fighting is southpaw the angles that the punches come at you are very different then if the other fighter was a orthodox fighter.
