I know we've noted how Elbows open up vicious cuts. Well, here is one of the worst cuts I've ever seen. It was opened by a knee from Vitor Belfort on one Marvin Eastman:

That has got to be the ugliest cut I've ever seen. It also puts another point on why I think flying knees are definitely MMA's most vicious strike.

After seeing that pick I'm going with the elbow. Then the knee. David Loiseau cut up guys by using elbows. Elbows are just vicious. Another example of elbows is what happened to Scott Morris against Pat Smith. Now that wasn't funny.

I found a shot of the Belfort knee that cut Eastman.

How can shins be deadly? It would hurt like heck if you tried hitting someone on the ground with your shin. Plus there are a minimum amount of ways you can use your shins in a fight.

Great video, i dont think i would want to be on the receiving end of one of his kicks..

I also went with elbows on this poll. Most matches are being fought on the ground, so elbows seem to be the weapon of choice and they can cut your oppenent good.

eww...thats messed up!!!

i also voted for elbows as they are more effective on a beat your opponent down angle.

but for over all effectiveness i would say knees....they do more damage per blow!

and that picture is GROSS!

Using the Muay Thai methodology of kicking, when one kicks to the Body or Leg, they will connect with the shin approximately 3-4 inches up from their foot. The reason being is that the shin is one solid bone, and not comprised of multiple smaller bones and cartiledge like the instep of your foot. In that case, you're swinging your leg like a large club that is less likely to break if you're hitting with your foot. Only when you're kicking an opponent in the neck/head would you be hitting them with your foot, unless you're real close and real flexible.

I see. That picture you posted makes Marvin Eastman look like a beaten up fish lol.
