muay thai vs bjj/wrestling
HI everyone, this is my first post and im not sure if this post is in the right place.
Basically i am an aspiring mma fighter ive been attending my local fight gym 5 times a week for the last 6 weeks and i am looking to carrying on this rota. My gym is a specialist muay thai gym but they have an mma teacher who takes bjj/wrestling classes. As of now i go muay thai 4 times a week and bjj/wrestling only once a week. Ive recently understood the importance of ground technique in mma. so my question is, should i be attending more bjj/wrestling classes than muay thai or keep at my 4:1 ratio. thanks guys |

cheers for the advice guys, yh my muay thai is much better then my groundwork and i understand what you mean by adapting my muay thai.
im gonna carry on at this level and probably even it out once im comfortable with my striking. |

if you got great stand up i'd ask your trainer to teach you more bjj/wrestling. if your standup isnt that good, keep up your old schedule till your good at muay thai. hope i helped

Which do you suck more at? Train that one the most.

Its all about your strengths. If your standup is where you excell, then keep the ratio the same for now. But eventually you'll need to take more ground classes to make up the difference, that is unless you're a really quick learner in which case one a week might not necessarily be too little.
I'd say keep it as it is if you're comfortable that way. But if you can get into some sparring and see if you're really lacking in ground, that'll help make the decision easier. |
