Train in as much as you can. BJJ, thai boxing, wrestling. Basically knowledge is power. I personally am more focused in Thai boxing & BJJ. Just find a solution that suits you tho.

don't go and try to learn everything at once it will just make it more fustrating for you, the best advice i had was to pick a style and get good at it before moving to something else. When i started I was just doing No-gi Grappling mainly because i had wrestled in highschool, and was doing a boxing class once a week. when i felt my grappling was at a point where it almost felt second nature to me i started going harder with the boxing/kickboxing classes.

now im training full-time it seems....

this was how my training schedule was when i started.
Mon
Boxing
Grappling

Tuesday
Grappling

Thursday
Grappling

Friday
Wrestling/Grappling

once i was comfortable with grappling i started doing a kickboxing and MMA class wednesdays.

Now this is what im doing today 2.5 years later...

Monday
Boxing
MMA

Tuesday
Boxing
Gi Ju Jitsu
Kickboxing

Wed.
Boxing
MMA
Stregth and Conditioning

Thur.
Boxing
Gi Ju Jitsu
Kickboxing

Friday
Open Mat Gi Rolling

Saturday
Sparring

Sunday
Team Training...

Fridays I don't get to Roll as much anymore so its kind of hit or miss if i make it, but there will be times where I am just drained completely and ill take a week off, and I hate taking time off because it seems like ocne you start rolling again your cardio is all off and technique flys right out the window... But I just got a fight for December at 205 and I'm at 230 right now so its time to start losing some weight so Ill prolly hit it hard for about a month and in november im going away to Florida for a long weekend and ill take that time tor recover before getting back into it up to the fight....

my first fight i was 235 cutting to 215 and only had 4 weeks to do it, and it wasn't a big problem. I made 219 day of weigh-ins and only had to sweat out 4lbs before. to bad that weight came right back :-/ i need to eat better....

I have had to take 1.5 weeks off for injuries. Really hate it as well. Had been training with the injuries and they were just getting worse. But hey this is the life of MMA training. Lol. Does throw everything first few sessions back tho.

yea, I have only had a few "serious" injurys where i had to take an extended amount of time off....

Me and a friend where fooling around sparring with the small Pro style MMA gloves and he broke my Orbital right near my nose... didn't know what happened and waited a week to go see the doctor, who just sent me to the hospital for xrays, and when i said i can feel something move when i push down, they had me get a MRI which showed a small break... no surgury needed just a week off from training....

I had my elbow fully hyperextend when someone tried to latteral toss me... completely my fault, had to take a month off for that, I couldn't straighten my arm out for the life of me...

getting hurt sucks haha.

We were doing sweeps in thai boxing and I landed on the elbow and strained the tendons. Killed me to bend or pull weights and then week after having a roll around and stupidly got caught in kimora on same elbow. Was yelling like a bitch. Still more pissed that I got caught in kimora in first place. Lol
