for amateur fights do the promoters supply fight gloves?

A lot of them in Virginia do, yeah. Usually, it's posted on the promotion's website, if not, just ask them when you sign up for a card.

I have also seen where you have to have a certain type of glove and it has to be approved

as far as i know the promotion you fight in should have gloves for you along with shin guards if it is required. I know gloves is a must usually, around here all the promotions i've been to supply people with gloves, and one just bought a whole bunch of shin guards for ammy fights.

the promoter im fighting for just gave me my gloves yesterday! 7oz am everlast! they are really nice and feel great! im gonna punish this kid come march 6th...
