I agree with you. No fight should have 40-1 odds.

Out of respect for Lindland, I'm going to say that he has a chance. It's not a good chance, but he is the #1 middleweight in the world, beyond a doubt in my mind.
I don't see how he can beat Fedor, but I don't really see how anyone can beat Fedor.
The odds for this fight, in my opinion, should be better than the odds for Fedor v Coleman. At least Lindland is a top ten fighter.
I'd probably bet my soul on Fedor, (the odds are so bad I'd probably have to to get anything good out of the bet) but that doesn't mean Lindland can't win.

#1 MW in the world? I don't see it to be honest. Don't get me wrong I think Lindland is a very good fighter, certainly a top 10, maybe even top 5, but I wouldn't put him ahead of Silva, and Henderson.

If Coleman weighed the weight he does but fought MWs he would be top 10 and Im pretty sure he'd beat Lindland.

I disagree, I think there are more ways you can lose a fight in MMA. And we all know Fedor cuts easily. That is the only way I see him ever losing. What do you think the odds will be for this fight anyway. Im gonna say Fedor -800, Lindland + 650

How much of Lindland have you actually watched?
Lindland hasn't lost a fight at middleweight since 2004, and that was, in my opinion, a fluke.
He's beaten, over the course of his career:
Travis Fulton (the most experienced fighter in the world)
Phil Baroni (twice)
Pat Miletich
Niko Vitali (to avenge an earlier loss)
Travis Lutter
Joe Doerksen
Mike Van Arsdale
Jeremy Horn
Carlos Newton
He also went the distance in a close fight with Rampage.
Anderson Silva is a good fighter, and his all-around game is solid, but you don't see him beating world class competition that weighs more than he does. The notable guys on his record besides Franklin and Leben are his size or smaller. (like Hayato Sakurai) That's fine, but, in my opinion, the best fighter is the fighter that will fight anybody at any size, not just guys smaller than him.
As for Dan Henderson, he does go up and fight the best and, just recently, he won. He has some serious heart, but his relatively recent losses to Misaki and Lil Nog make it hard for me to call him the best at 185. He lossed those fights decisively.

Coleman might be bigger and stronger, but he lacks the kind of heart that Matt has. If he fought at 185 now he'd be a force, for sure (especially with his size), but let's face it, he doesn't fight the smart fight, Lindland does. I think that that's why the odds should be better, because no one is going to beat Fedor by just taking him down and throwing fists and elbows at him. That's why Lindland is a top ten fighter and Coleman is not. Lindland fights the smart, strategic fight, Coleman plays his own game every time.

Am I the only one looking forward to this matchup? If 2007 has taught me anything it is not to write off ANY matchup in MMA.
Matt Linland is the man. I wouldn't take him in this fight but if you want to see a clinic of heart, watch him fight Rampage. If he could take Fedor down once I would call it a victory. I am just happy Lindland is getting this opportunity, he will make the most of it.

Even though I think that this is an absurd match-up, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't looking foward to seeing it. After all I saw Tyson/Douglas live on HBO and it was a fight that I won't forget soon. I doubt that I'll see an upset but maybe...

Im going to have to go for Fedor as well, He is an all round fighter, Lindland is not as well rounded as Fedor.
