Forlan totally deserved it, and I'm very happy he did!

I'm happy Forlan won it but it could have easily gone to Mueller since he got 5 goals and 3 assists in 6 games and that's really amazing. It's a shame he missed the semifinals due to the "yellow" card he got in the quarterfinals- I think that cost him the Golden Ball.

Nah, two awards is enough for him.

I dont think any striker or attacking player really stood out in this world cup, in fact if anyone was a cut above the rest it was Messi, usually 6 or 7 goals is the going rate to win the golden boot which really symbolises how any of the worlds greatest attacking players and goal scores failed to stand above the rest.

When you look at what won the world cup this year it was more the unspoken and recognised role of a solid defensive mid field, I would of given the Goldern ball to Alonso because it was his defensive midfield role that made the Spanish defence so dam hard to get past throughout the world cup.

I am so sad right now. The ref blew at least 3 maybe 4 calls that would have all been corners for netherlands (seemed like spain kept tipping the ball out but refs didn't notice).

Robben blew two amazing oppertunities to win it for us. **** that first one...off the keepers toe...******* hell..

The goal spain scored was clean, no offsides.

Great world cup overall, very very pleased we made it this far so don't take my whining for not being pleased with everything we accomplished.

Was a spectacular game. Beautiful. So evenly matched.

That being said, I am very sad right now.

I disagree. Both Iniesta and that guy who jumped into Alonso foot first should both have seen a red card for their actions. Karate Kid got only a yellow card (what the hell?) and Iniesta didn't even get a yellow card for blatantly hitting van Bommel and both times the ref stood right next to them. Then we have that corner for the Netherlands that was so obvious even a bat would have seen it. We had van Bommel committing 6, I repeat 6 major fouls coming from behind that all could have easily been a yellow card if not more and Robben who should have seen his second yellow card after kicking the ball away when the ref had already blown the whistle. There was Iniesta blatantly diving two times in the extra time, one of the dives provoking a yellow/red card that for once really wasn't necessary. All things considered the ref never really had control of the players. And ultimetaly he was the one to cause the situation that led to the goal by not seeing that Sneijder's free kick was deflected.

See thats what I mean. Any other ref would have destroyed the entire game with red cards. Imagine if the same ref who did the German group game was refereeing the final yesterday. They would have played with 3 against 3..LOL.. He saved this great game in my eyes.

But I agree that he should have seen the corner for Holland.

Agreed, but might I suggest we return for Euro Cup?

Totally agree. the dutch could have easily been down to 8 men by half time. I'm, glad the ref let a lot slide and was lenient with his cards as he really did help make the final a really good game.

I do thing Van Brommal should have been sent off though on numerous occasions.
