CFB: LSU vs Alabama

G_Land 10-24-2011 09:33 AM

This is THE game of the year!!!! I'm a little surprised that Bama is this much in front! Bama is deadly in the sky but even more so on the ground!! LSU has a double threat at QB and has some good weapons. The key here I think will be each teams secondary on defense.

Who ever can stop the big plays will win this game. With Bama having Courtney Upshaw and Hightower my money is on the Tide!!

dudeabides 10-24-2011 09:37 PM

I'd say Alabama wins 16 to 10, both teams' lowest outputs of the season.

Oh my my...those odds...and LSU...:drool01:

They're from that Pinnacle site if you guys were wondering, if more close together odds come out in the next week and a half I can always change them. Hope the game doesn't come down to injuries or suspensions or something. This is at least the biggest game of the year until the last one.

Gettin close!!!!!!

Check out this article on what current NFL players who went to one of these two schools think of this game:

Quote:

Saints S Roman Harper

Alabama wins because:

“Because we’re a better team, and it’s in Tuscaloosa. We’re bigger. LSU’s defense is very athletic, though, I gotta give ‘em that, especially in the back seven. I really like the way they play. They’re ball-hawky. Just from what I’ve seen, those guys can play some ball back there. I like the way Alabama plays up front. I think we're only giving up 30, 40, 50 yards a game rushing. So I don’t anticipate these guys being able to line up and knock us off the ball like they’ve done other teams. And you take that away from LSU and what do they have? ...

“And we’ll try to make them beat us with their arms and not their legs. I think we’ve got a great chance. I’ve scouted. I like the way our offense matches up. I think AJ McCarron will have some success if he does a great job of managing this game. I think they’ll try and put eight and nine people in the box against Trent Richardson and Eddie Lacy and I think AJ better take advantage of that. He’s a cool guy, a calm guy and nothing seems to rattle him. He doesn’t let things get too big or too small. He just seems to always have it under control."

Who or what will be X-factor?

“I think special teams and turnovers, because I think both offenses and defenses will probably even each other out. I think we’ve got a better returner. I think our kickers are good, too.”

Why will Alabama win the national championship?

“It just reminds me a lot of ’09 when we did the whole thing. We’re not sneaking up on teams, but we’re really dominating teams, winning the games we need to. We’re playing great defense, we’re playing a really complementary game offensively. We’re not turning the ball over. They look extremely talented. Just in college football, they’re probably the best team, the most talented. LSU looks great but I think we’ve got the home-field advantage.”

Texans LB DeMeco Ryans

Alabama wins because:

“Alabama's going to win because they’re playing at home, and their defense is good enough to stop LSU’s run, get to the quarterback and create some turnovers. I think this defense is great.”

Who or what will be the X-factor?

“I think the X factor could be a trick play. If you look at coach (Nick) Saban’s history, he’s got some tricks up his sleeve. I could see him calling a fake punt or an option pass or something like that to break open a close game. He’s known for doing that. I hate to admit it, but when I played, he got me on one (fake punt) of those (when Saban was at LSU). As a defensive player or a special teams player, you’ve got to be aware of the possibility, but you can’t let it affect your aggressiveness.”

Why will Alabama win the national championship?

“I think Alabama’s toughest game is this one against LSU. I don’t think the (SEC) East is as tough as it usually is, so I don’t think they’ll have a problem winning the conference championship game. It’ll be interesting to see if LSU can win out and have a chance to play Alabama in the BCS Championship Game. Man, that would be something, wouldn’t it? Two teams from the same conference division playing a second time for the national championship. I’m biased, of course, but I think Alabama would beat them again.”

Chiefs DE Glenn Dorsey

LSU wins because:

“LSU is good across the board. They don’t just have one guy they need to play lights out. They’re a good team across the board. They played without three of our best players last week and they still played a great game. They’re just a complete football team."

Who or what will be the X-factor?

“Probably whoever stops the run the best. The O-line/D-line matchup on each side, that’s the key to this game.’’

Why will LSU win the national championship?

“Like I said, I just feel LSU is the best team in the country across the board. I trained with them in the offseason a little bit and they worked hard. They’ve got a lot of young guys but they’re ready. They’re developing quick."

Cardinals CB Patrick Peterson

LSU wins because:

“It’s going to be a tight game like always, but I think with what coach (Les) Miles and the LSU Tigers have going on, those guys are playing with a lot of energy. They have a high confidence level right now. I have all the confidence in the world we’re going to bring home a 'W.'”

Who or what will be the X-factor?

“It’s going to come down to both offenses making plays. We know the defenses are going to come out there and give it all they got. I believe the X-factors for both teams are going to be the offense.”

Why will LSU win the national championship?

“Because those guys are playing at a high level right now. A lot of those guys have been in that system for three years, they’ve been in those tough games together. They have the chemistry down pat. I love watching them play.”

Alabama has 6 players with double digit receptions. LSU only has 3. Bama can spread the field if LSU can stop Richardson or Lacey. Maze is a deep threat that if covered one on one it will be a big play.

LSU has it's own threats. But I think Bama's steady pace will be to much for LSU's secondary. .....Let's not forget about the monsters lurking in Bama's Linebacker Corps.

G_Land 11-05-2011 09:56 PM

Man neck and neck so far...LSU made the first mistake....Lets see if Bama can make the most of it!!!

WTF......Blocked FG......:confused03:

dudeabides 11-05-2011 10:26 PM

Awesome hard hitting game, Alabama is really outgaining them but not scoring very easily, 1 out of 4 on field goals and it's 3-0.
