Boxing: Sonny Bill Williams vs Clarence Tillman

Quote:
Fists were flying early between Sonny Bill Williams and his boxing opponent Clarence Tillman III as a heated face-off at their weigh-in today erupted into a brawl.

As the pair exchanged trash talk, Tillman shoved Williams in the chest forcing him backwards.

Williams landed a punch and Tillman connected with a shot on his chin before Williams' entourage swarmed in.

Former Autralian rugby league star and world champion boxer, Anthony Mundine, pulled Tillman to the ground before Williams' brother, John, tackled him into the boxing ring.

Both camps intervened to stop the escalating confrontation.

As Tillman was escorted from the gym Williams yelled: ''I'm going to f*** you up.''

The pair were facing-off for the first time following the official weigh-in at Hamilton's Ringside Gym.

Williams could be heard saying what appeared to be, ''Don't call me your homie,'' before the the brawl broke out.

He said he was now even more fired up for their NZPBA heavyweight title clash at Claudelands Arena in Hamilton tomorrow night.

''If he wanted to I could fight right now,'' he said.

''It's on.''

Mundine said Tillman was under a lot of pressure but it was no excuse for taking a cheap shot.

''I think he's flustered,'' he said.

''That was a very disrespectful thing to do. To dog shot someone like that, he's lost all respect and honour as a warrior and I sure do hope that Sonny makes him pay for that tomrrow night.''

Tillman weighed in at 128.4kg and Williams at 107.9kg.

Williams later took to Twitter to share his thoughts on the weigh-in bust-up saying:

"Thanks for the support peeps he had his free shot I'm sure he won't give me one tomorrow night!!"

Hope Sonny Bill destroys him, dude's a serious athlete. That dog shot was a weak move.

That was quick. How is a guy like that called a professional boxer?

haha, this is why I always say there are professional boxers and 'pro boxers'. Most of the time, a 'pro boxer' is a garbage collector by day and couldn't beat 90% of amateur boxers.
